Since the 1980s, the Civic Si has been a standout in the compact tuner market. Its combination of a lightweight chassis and a high-revving, powerful engine has set the standard for countless tuner cars over the years. While the latest FE1 Civic Si has grown larger and heavier than its predecessors, it continues to deliver an engaging driving experience. Straight from the factory, the FE1 Civic Si and its Acura counterpart, the DE4 Integra, offer impressive performance, thanks to Honda’s 1.5L turbocharged engine producing 200hp. These compact sedans are perfect for enthusiasts seeking a spirited daily driver. However, when pushed hard on the track—particularly in modified or tuned configurations—these cars can quickly reach the limits of their factory cooling systems due to the increased heat generated by the engine. To address this challenge, CSF is proud to introduce its new High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator, specifically designed for the 2022+ FE1 Civic Si and DE4 Integra.
Design and Engineering
- CSF boasts an extensive and successful history with Honda cooling systems, including the production of factory radiators for Honda Performance Development (HPD). Notably, Honda utilizes CSF’s private-label HPD Race Radiator for the FK8 Civic Type R TCR and has recently received a new system developed by CSF for the FL5. Drawing on the expertise gained from designing the Race Radiator, CSF engineered a High-Performance version for both the FL5 Civic Type R and FE1 Civic Si. This upgraded radiator incorporates CSF’s advanced 5mm fin cooling technology, which enhances the heat transfer area by 20-25% compared to traditional larger fin designs.
CSF VS OEM
- The original Honda OE radiator features a plastic tank with a single-row aluminum core, which is considered durable and of good quality. However, it is not the ideal choice for high-horsepower builds and demanding driving conditions. Turbocharged engines, including the L15CA, generate significant heat, making effective cooling critical for engine and component longevity. CSF’s FE1 Civic Si / DE4 Integra Radiator incorporates advanced features to address these challenges. It utilizes the latest 5mm fin technology, which significantly enhances heat exchange surface area, resulting in improved cooling efficiency. The radiator’s 2-row 42mm aluminum core is 33% larger than the OE design, increasing fluid capacity and enhancing heat dissipation capabilities. CSF’s exclusive B-Tube Technology further improves heat transfer by approximately 15% compared to conventional oval welded tubes. Additionally, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for optimal cooling performance. Constructed with TIG-welded, 100% all-aluminum materials, the radiator boasts increased strength, durability, and longevity, ensuring reliable performance under demanding driving conditions. Designed for a direct fit, the CSF radiator mounts in the factory location without requiring any modifications or cutting.
- Test Results:
- Testing of the CSF FE1 Civic Si Radiator against the OE Civic Si radiator has not yet been conducted. However, CSF has tested the FL5 Civic Type R Radiator, which features the same core design as the FE1 Civic Si Radiator. Since the factory Civic Type R radiator is more efficient than the factory Civic Si radiator, the performance improvements with the CSF radiator for the Civic Si are expected to be even more significant. During testing, the FL5 Civic Type R Factory Radiator was compared to the CSF Radiator on a FL5 vehicle tuned to 294 whp and equipped with a larger, upgraded front mount intercooler. This intercooler is known to increase engine coolant temperatures by approximately 7% due to airflow restriction over the radiator. Results showed that the CSF Radiator reduced engine coolant temperatures by 8°C compared to the OEM radiator. These findings highlight the importance of a radiator upgrade, especially for vehicles running larger intercoolers or for those intended for track use. The CSF Radiator provides a significant cooling advantage, improving thermal management and overall engine performance.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
