• BMW’s OE oil cooler uses all-metal construction that suggests durability, yet several design weak points limit its robustness. Engineering

• The cooler features CNC-machined connection blocks that are TIG-welded for extreme durability and resistance to abuse. It replaces the fragile tube-and-fin core with a heavy-duty bar-and-plate design, delivering far greater impact resistance in the event of a front-end scrape or bottom-out. Cooling capacity rises by 33% thanks to three additional rows and a thicker 60mm core (versus the 45mm OEM unit), improving heat dissipation under sustained load. TIG-welded end tanks further strengthen the assembly compared with the factory’s brazed construction, reducing the risk of leaks and enhancing long-term reliability.
