CSF’s Turbocharger Heat Exchangers for the McLaren 570S / 570GT / 600LT, 720S / 765LT, 750S, and GT / GTS are developed to address the inherent limitations of the factory charge-air-cooling system. While the OEM coolers are adequate at stock power levels, they quickly become overwhelmed by the additional heat generated from larger turbochargers and increased boost. CSF’s upgraded units are engineered as a true plug-and-play, drop-in solution, delivering substantially increased cooling capacity and much quicker recovery from heat soak. With a larger, more efficient core paired with CSF’s proprietary cooling technology, these heat exchangers extract significantly more heat from the charge-air system, helping to reduce intake air temperatures under hard use and in power-enhanced applications. The 100% TIG-welded, all-aluminum construction further improves strength, durability, and long-term reliability. Installation requires no cutting or permanent modification, preserving the integrity of the vehicle. Each cooler set is supplied with upgraded metal rock guards for added protection against road and track debris. With this package, CSF provides a top-tier cooling solution for McLaren owners who demand uncompromising performance and quality.

Design & Engineering

  • CSF views the McLaren M840TE engine as a benchmark of modern twin-turbo V8 engineering, capable of producing exceptional horsepower relative to its displacement. However, overall performance is constrained by the capacity of the charge-air system. The factory charge-air-coolers are the first limiting factor, with their pressure thresholds quickly reached as boost is increased. CSF by PWR Charge-Air-Coolers address this issue with significantly stronger bar-and-plate cores designed to withstand higher pressures. The next bottleneck is the amount of heat that can be extracted from the system, with the original front-mount heat exchangers becoming the primary restriction. To combat this, CSF’s objective is to reduce intake air temperatures (IATs) at elevated boost levels and deliver faster recovery from inevitable heat soak. CSF’s engineering team has meticulously developed the most efficient heat exchangers possible that still integrate cleanly within the factory housing pods.

OEM VS CSF

  • CSF acknowledges that the factory heat exchangers on these McLarens are well-designed and highly efficient, as is typical for the platform. However, they are calibrated for stock power and boost levels, leaving meaningful room for improvement in high-performance applications. While both the OEM and CSF heat exchanger cores feature 39 cooling tubes and 40 fin rows, CSF upgrades to a 54 mm 2-row core – a substantial step up from the factory 1-row design. CSF’s core also incorporates its exclusive B-Tube Technology, which increases heat transfer efficiency by approximately 15% compared to conventional oval welded tubes. Super-efficient multi-louvered fins further enhance airflow through the core for maximum cooling performance. Although the factory units use an all-metal construction, they rely on a crimp-and-brazed method that is inherently weaker than CSF’s fully TIG-welded approach. CSF’s 100% TIG-welded all-aluminum construction significantly boosts overall strength, durability, and longevity, ensuring reliability under hard driving conditions. Additionally, the outlet tanks are equipped with pre-plugged 1/8″ NPT temperature sensor ports for those who require more precise coolant temperature monitoring.

5-Pass Design

  • CSF’s heat exchangers are engineered with a 5-pass design that significantly increases coolant dwell time within the charge-air system, maximizing heat rejection. With each successive pass through the core, more heat is removed, allowing coolant to return to the charge-air coolers at a temperature as close to ambient as possible for consistently lower intake air temperatures and improved performance.

Plug and Play Installation

  • CSF engineers its heat exchangers to mount directly into the factory pods with no cutting or modification required. The original equipment foam strips are reused to properly seal and seat the units within the pods, improving airflow and overall cooling efficiency.
