The Lamborghini Urus has quickly become a leader in the Performance SUV market, combining supercar power with everyday practicality and sharing a 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 engine with its VAG counterpart, the Audi RS Q8. In 2021, CSF and partner PWR introduced a high-performance dual intercooler kit for Audi C8 4.0L engines, quickly gaining popularity among high-horsepower enthusiasts. Building on this success, CSF has launched a limited-edition intercooler kit tailored for the 2019+ Lamborghini Urus and 2020+ Audi RS Q8 / SQ8 / SQ7. Developed in partnership with Pacific German and manufactured at PWR North America, the kit leverages Formula 1-inspired cooling technology to set new performance standards.

The Lamborghini Urus has swiftly established itself in the Performance SUV market, reigning as a frontrunner and closely shadowed by its VAG counterpart, the Audi RS Q8. As the current best-selling model in Lamborghini’s illustrious history, the Urus seamlessly marries supercar prowess with the everyday practicality of a 4-door vehicle, complete with generous trunk space. Both the Urus and the Audi RS Q8, along with the contemporary C8 generation Audi RS6 / RS7, derive their power from the same potent 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8 engine.
In a notable stride in 2021, CSF, collaborating with its trusted partner PWR, introduced a pioneering dual high-performance intercooler kit designed for the Audi C8 4.0L engines. This innovative product gained immediate popularity, with over 200 kits finding owners in just the initial nine months following its debut. Its proven efficacy is evident in vehicles outfitted with full bolt-on modifications generating over 800hp and a select elite group surpassing the 1000hp threshold. Identifying the vast potential, CSF extended the high-performance benefits of these intercooler kits to the new VAG SUV platform. The culmination of these efforts is the launch of a limited-edition high-performance intercooler kit, the first and only of its kind, tailored for the 2019+ Lamborghini Urus and the 2020+ Audi RS Q8 / SQ8 / SQ7. Emphasizing the strength of partnerships, CSF and Pacific German from Orange County, CA, have collaboratively developed and rigorously tested this new intercooler kit. The production process, stationed at PWR North America in Indianapolis, draws inspiration from Formula 1 cooling technology, aiming to redefine performance benchmarks in the automotive aftermarket.
Design & Engineering
The intercoolers for the Urus/RS Q8 have been crafted with precision to mirror the fit of the original OEM units they’re intended to replace. They use all the factory mounting points, ensuring a hassle-free “drop-in fit” installation process. There’s no need for any modifications, cuts, or additional aftermarket parts like shrouds or hoses. Every original component aligns perfectly with these new units and can be reinstalled without any issues.
The intercoolers come with a Thermal Dispersion Black finish, enhancing their cooling capabilities. After PWR delivers the intercoolers to CSF, they are sent to a specialized aerospace company to be treated with this distinctive ceramic coating. This treatment ensures heat is dispersed away from the intercoolers at a rate about 15% faster than non-coated counterparts. Additionally, this coating gives the intercoolers a robust, OEM-style appearance, particularly noticeable through the Urus’s open front fascia. CSF’s design also incorporates the charge pipe directly into the top end tank. An aluminum welded pipe takes the place of the original factory plastic part, secured by an internal O-Ring. Pacific German’s head technician highlighted potential issues with the OEM O-Rings, having replaced several on stock systems due to them triggering check engine alerts. Interestingly, the O-Rings on Pacific German’s Urus started showing signs of wear with only a few thousand miles clocked on the vehicle.
PWR Intercooler Core Technology
The intercooler cores utilized in this design are consistent with those found in other CSF air-to-air systems previously crafted for vehicles like the Audi RS6 / RS7, Porsche 992 Turbo / S, and 991 GT2RS, all of which delivered impressive outcomes. Compared to the traditional Bar & Plate designs, these cores effectively combat heat soak and reduce Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) more proficiently. This ensures peak performance is maintained during prolonged demanding drives, especially in vehicles that have been enhanced through modifications and tuning.
The 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine found in the Urus & RS Q8 tends to encounter significant heat soak and steadily increasing IATs when using the standard OEM intercoolers. Consequently, this prompts the ECU to adjust engine timing and considerably reduce power. The intercoolers developed by CSF in collaboration with PWR effectively address this limitation, ensuring consistent peak performance even over extended durations.
Performance improvements are expected to mirror those observed in the Audi C8 RS6 / RS7. Specifically, CSF noted enhancements of 20 WHP and 18 WTQ with the standard tune and 10 WHP and 20 WTQ upon employing a high-performance tune during their dynamometer tests. Additionally, the Intake Air Temperatures (IAT) remained more stable even after several intense test runs, leading to consistent dynamometer readings.
CNC Machined Billet End Tanks
In line with other products birthed from the collaboration between CSF and PWR, the newly unveiled Urus / RS Q8 Intercoolers come equipped with 100% TIG-welded machined billet aluminum end tanks, a marked upgrade over the OEM’s crimped plastic composite versions.
Beyond just an aesthetic enhancement, this feature presents a more robust solution, ensuring durability and longevity, especially in high-performance vehicles. These CNC machined billet end tanks are adept at handling the increased boost pressures that accompany bolt-on modifications, superior performance tunes, and upgraded turbochargers.
Dyno Testing at Autowerks Asia
Autowerks Asia stands out as one of the premier tuners in Thailand, crafting some of the most remarkable builds currently emerging from Southeast Asia. Their “Stage 3” Urus is a testament to this prowess, featuring enhancements like TTE888 EA825 Turbos, Supersprint downpipes, an Akrapovič Exhaust, McChip DKR Tuning, and the inclusion of CSF High-Performance Intercoolers.
With the comprehensive “Stage 3” modifications, the Urus showcased a whopping 836whp and 1031Nm (760 ft-lbs) of torque, a substantial leap from the stock figures that hover around approximately 650whp and ~825Nm (~608 ft-lbs) of torque.

What stands out about the systems developed by CSF in collaboration with PWR is their exceptional resilience against heat-soak. Maintaining consistent power output (and temperatures) repeatedly is crucial in any motorsport scenario, often surpassing the sheer power gains in importance. Based on tests on the RS6 coolers, which share similar core specifications with the Urus / RS Q8 coolers, a distinct difference emerges between the CSF and OEM coolers. While performance from the OEM coolers tends to drop noticeably after several dyno runs, the CSF coolers remain steady, from the first to the fifth run. This consistency proves invaluable for track cars, drag racers, and even high-speed road vehicles, ensuring there’s no power compromise due to heat soak.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
