COBB Tuning’s Silver TMIC for BT Subaru Outback replaces the factory top mount intercooler on the turbocharged Outback with a 20 x 7 x 4 in Garrett core fed by cast aluminum end tanks, and COBB rates its airflow 30% above the stock intercooler. It keeps the charge path short, so the Outback XT and Wilderness hold their quick throttle response while intake temperatures stay lower on long grades and repeated pulls. Because it runs safely on the stock Subaru calibration and carries CARB Executive Orders, it is a sensible first cooling upgrade for an owner who tows, climbs or simply drives hard in summer heat.

Design and Fitment

The core sits where the original intercooler lives, on top of the engine under the hood scoop. On the inlet side the Silver TMIC for BT Subaru Outback reuses the factory charge pipe and its o-ring seal, and on the outlet the stock o-ring seals over the throttle body inlet, so nothing in the intake tract has to be cut or re-routed. Reinforced silicone couplers come in the box to finish the connections from turbocharger to throttle body.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
