Design and Construction

The factory intake on the second-generation Mazdaspeed3 places a restriction ahead of the turbocharger. COBB replaces it with a composite tube that is lighter than metal, sheds less heat into the charge and resists warping, plus a CFD-developed velocity stack and straightener grid that smooth flow across the Mass Air Flow sensor. The aluminum airbox walls the filter off from engine heat, which is what separates the Intake and Airbox for BL cars from an open filter. Both parts are made in the USA.

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
