Is the NexGen Stage 2 Power Package legal in California?

Yes. COBB lists the NexGen Stage 2 Power Package for the 2015 to 2021 WRX as legal for sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states under CARB Executive Order D-660-172, provided the parts are installed as described in the COBB application guide.

Does this package work on a WRX with the CVT?

Yes. COBB confirms the package for both manual and CVT versions of the 2015 to 2021 USDM WRX sedan. CVT owners should know that COBB does not offer Launch Control or Flat Foot Shifting through the Accessport on the CVT, although gauges, datalogging and map changes work as normal.

Why is a charge pipe kit part of the package?

COBB states that its Charge Pipe Kit is required to install the COBB Top Mount Intercooler on this WRX, so the two are supplied together. The charge pipes and reinforced silicone couplers complete the path from the turbocharger to the throttle body once the larger core is in place.

What does NexGen mean on a COBB package?

NexGen is the name COBB gives to packages created after downpipes were removed from its upgrade paths. They aim to deliver a similar level of performance and excitement while keeping the car within legal emissions standards, which is why this kit relies on intake, intercooler and tuning upgrades instead of exhaust parts.

Will this package fit a 2015 to 2021 WRX STI?

No. COBB lists this package only for the 2015 to 2021 WRX sedan with the manual or CVT gearbox. The STI uses a different engine and intake arrangement, and COBB sells separate NexGen Stage 2 packages for it with a fuel system upgrade instead of the top mount intercooler.

Description

COBB Tuning NexGen Stage 2 Power Package with SF Intake and Black Intercooler for VA Subaru WRX

COBB Tuning’s NexGen Stage 2 Power Package gathers five upgrades for the 2015-2021 WRX into a single order: the Accessport V3, the SF Intake System, a Charge Pipe Kit, the black Top Mount Intercooler and a 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid. It carries CARB EO D-660-172, and that is the reason the NexGen line exists. COBB built these packages to restore a legal Stage 2 path for cars that lost their upgrade route when downpipes were withdrawn. We see it as the sensible choice for a manual or CVT sedan driven quickly on the street. Owners planning a larger turbo should look elsewhere; COBB pitches this top mount for added airflow and cooling, not big turbo support.

Design and Performance

The Garrett core measures 15.75 x 9.65 x 3.94 in, the largest COBB knows of for the direct injection WRX, and a heavy-duty passenger side bracket carries its weight. COBB requires its Charge Pipe Kit to fit this intercooler, which is why the NexGen Stage 2 Power Package includes one.

Accessport V3 with a full color, higher resolution screen showing up to six live parameters
Garrett intercooler core with cast aluminum end tanks

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
