Do I need the NexGen Flex Fuel Module upgrade or the full NexGen ethanol sensor kit?

This NexGen Flex Fuel Module upgrade suits owners who installed the earlier COBB flex fuel kit and still have a working ethanol content sensor. If the car has never had COBB flex fuel, choose the full NexGen Flex Fuel Ethanol Sensor Kit, because this kit ships without a sensor.

Does this kit include an ethanol content sensor?

No. The kit contains the NexGen module and a plug-and-play wiring harness only. It connects to the ethanol content sensor from your previous COBB flex fuel setup, so that sensor must already be installed and working on the car before this kit goes in.

Does the car need an Accessport or a tune after installing this upgrade?

Yes. The module only reports ethanol content to the ECU; the engine uses that data through a NexGen Flex Fuel calibration loaded with a COBB Accessport, which is sold separately. Plan the tune alongside the hardware, since the module does nothing on its own.

Will this work on a 2008 Subaru WRX?

Yes, the 2008 WRX sedan and hatch with a manual transmission are confirmed applications. COBB does not offer off-the-shelf maps for the 2008 WRX with this setup, so that car needs a custom tune arranged through a COBB Authorized Protuner.

Is the NexGen Flex Fuel Module legal in California?

No. COBB states the NexGen Flex Fuel Module is not legal for sale or use in California on any emission controlled motor vehicle while CARB testing is pending. Elsewhere, COBB says it is legal for on-street use in states that accept the EPA Anti-Tampering Policy.

Description

COBB Tuning NexGen Flex Fuel Module and Harness Only Kit for GR / GV / VA Subaru WRX / WRX STI

COBB Tuning’s NexGen Flex Fuel Module and Harness Only Kit is the short road to NexGen flex fuel for a GR, GV or VA chassis Subaru that already runs COBB’s earlier ethanol sensor kit. It swaps in the newer NexGen module and a plug-and-play wiring harness that ties your existing sensor to it. The module reads ethanol content and feeds it to the ECU for an Accessport-delivered NexGen Flex Fuel calibration. It only makes sense with the previous COBB kit already fitted.

Design and Function

The NexGen module does the signal processing and passes an ethanol content value to the factory ECU, and the calibration adjusts for whatever blend is in the tank, so the car can run pump gasoline or an ethanol blend on the same NexGen map. The included harness uses OE quality wiring and connectors, and COBB intends the kit to bring a car up to a NexGen Stage 2 plus Flex Fuel Power Package configuration.

Features

NexGen Flex Fuel Module that processes ethanol content data before it reaches the ECU
Reuses the ethanol content sensor from the previous COBB flex fuel kit
Custom plug-and-play wiring harness built with OE quality wiring and connectors
Mounts on the passenger side strut tower
Works with Accessport-delivered NexGen Flex Fuel calibrations

What’s Included

NexGen Flex Fuel Module
Plug-and-play wiring harness

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
