Will the Black TMIC Kit for VB Subaru WRX fit a 2024 WRX TR?

Yes. COBB confirms fitment on the 2024 WRX TR sedan with the manual gearbox, alongside every 2022 to 2026 WRX sedan sold in the US with either the manual or the CVT. The Black TMIC Kit for VB Subaru WRX drops into the factory location under the hood scoop and reuses the stock charge pipe, so the TR needs no special parts.

Do I need an Accessport to install this intercooler?

No. COBB says this intercooler does not require any tuning changes. It runs safely on the stock Subaru calibration, and if you already use an Accessport with a COBB Stage 1 Off The Shelf map you can keep that map loaded. An Accessport is not part of the kit and must be purchased separately if you want one.

Can I pass a California smog check with this kit installed?

Yes. The kit is covered by CARB Executive Order numbers D-660-119, D-660-154, D-660-188, D-660-244 and D-660-309, which makes it legal for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles in all 50 states when installed according to the COBB application guide. Keeping a copy of the EO with the vehicle documents makes an inspection easier.

How much more airflow does it provide?

COBB rates the kit at a 30 percent airflow increase over the stock WRX intercooler. That comes from the larger 20 x 7 x 4 inch Garrett core, the cast aluminum end tanks that guide air through it, and the Thrust Tunnel, which channels air from the hood scoop into the core face.

Is the Black kit any different from the Silver kit apart from color?

No. COBB lists the Black kit as B41450-BK and the Silver kit as B41450-SL, and the two share the same Garrett core, airflow rating, Thrust Tunnel, fitment and CARB Executive Orders. Pick the finish that suits your engine bay. The Thrust Tunnel is wrinkle black powder coat on both.

Description

COBB Tuning Black TMIC Kit for VB Subaru WRX

COBB Tuning’s Black TMIC Kit for VB Subaru WRX is a bolt-in top mount intercooler that replaces the stock unit under the hood scoop of the 2022 and newer sedan, built in the USA around a 20 x 7 x 4 in Garrett core. Bespoke cast aluminum end tanks spread the charge across that core, and COBB quotes a 30 percent gain in airflow over the original part. Because it carries CARB Executive Orders, it is street legal in California as well as the other 49 states. We would point a WRX owner here once the factory cooler starts to heat soak on back-to-back pulls or track sessions. Turbo response is unchanged, since the charge follows the same short factory route.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
