In its factory state, the R35 ECU relies on a mass airflow (MAF) sensor housed within the stock intake system to gauge airflow. However, as modifications accumulate and power increases, airflow may surpass the MAF sensor’s capacity, resulting in inaccurate air mass measurements and inadequate fuel delivery by the ECU. The redline carbon fiber big SF intake addresses this issue by enlarging the inner diameter of the intake tubing, effectively expanding the intake cross-section. This modification enables the MAF sensor to detect lower readings for the same volume of air intake, providing the necessary headroom to accurately measure airflow levels beyond the stock system’s design specifications. Leveraging this intake, COBB tuning has supported power builds exceeding 600 horsepower and torque at the wheels, marking a remarkable 40% enhancement over stock GT-R configurations.
