Does the Accessport V3 for FK8 Honda Civic Type R work on 2020 and 2021 cars?

Yes. The 2020 and 2021 Civic Type R needs its ECU unlocked before the first flash, and COBB packs its unlocking box with every Accessport V3 for FK8 Honda kit, so the job is done at home with no shipping. Cars from 2017 to 2019 skip that step.

Which Stage 1 map should I load?

Match the map to your fuel. COBB offers one Stage 1 file for 91 octane, equal to 95 RON, and another for 93 octane, equal to 98 RON. Choose the file for the lowest grade you expect to buy, since both assume an otherwise stock car. Stage 0 adds no power.

Is this Accessport legal in California?

Yes. COBB holds CARB Executive Order numbers D-660-174 and D-660-216 for the Accessport on the FK8 Civic Type R, allowing sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states when the device is used in line with the COBB application guide.

Will this part number fit the newer FL5 Civic Type R?

No. AP3-HON-001 covers only the 2017 to 2021 FK8 Civic Type R sold in the US market. The 2023 and later FL5 Civic Type R and the DE5 Integra Type S use the separate AP3-HON-003 Accessport, which requires the ECU to be sent to COBB for unlocking.

Can I put the car back to stock later?

Yes. Choosing Uninstall from the main menu returns the ECU to exactly its state before installation. Because flashing over other software can cause ECU or TCU failure, contact COBB support before installing if the car already carries a tune from another source.

Description

COBB Tuning Accessport V3 for FK8 Honda Civic Type R

COBB Tuning’s Accessport V3 for FK8 Honda Civic Type R plugs into the OBDII port of the 2017 to 2021 Type R and, by COBB’s estimate, completes installation in about six minutes, with CARB Executive Orders D-660-174 and D-660-216 covering road use in all 50 states. The 2020 and 2021 ECU must be unlocked first, a job the unlocking box in the kit handles at home. Stage 1 comes in 91 octane (95 RON) and 93 octane (98 RON) versions, so check what your usual station pumps.

Fuel Grades and Maps

Stage 0 on the Accessport V3 for FK8 Honda Civic Type R keeps every factory calibration value; it adds no power but enables the gauges, datalogging and trouble code tools. COBB aims its Stage 1 files at the margin Honda left in the stock tune, with more boost and sharper timing and fueling for low end torque and top end power. These Off The Shelf maps assume an otherwise stock car, with stock-airbox filters and exhaust parts that retain the factory catalytic converters listed as safe. Other modifications call for custom mapping from a COBB tuner.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
