Which cars does the Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI fit?

It fits the Mk6 Golf GTI from 2010 to 2014 in USDM form and from 2009 to 2013 in world market form, with either the manual gearbox or the DSG. The Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI is not listed for the Golf R, Jetta or later Mk7 cars, which use other part numbers.

Is it legal to use in California?

Yes. COBB holds CARB Executive Orders D-660-37 and D-660-38 for this application, which makes the handheld legal for sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states when it is used according to the COBB application guide and the off the shelf maps it ships with.

How much power does the Stage 1 map add?

COBB measured peak gains of 12.8 percent horsepower and 18.6 percent torque on its Stage 1 93 octane map, tested on a 2010 GTI. Its largest single point gain was 17.1 percent horsepower and 22.2 percent torque. Results vary with fuel, weather and the condition of each car.

Can I return the GTI to stock later?

Yes. The Uninstall option in the main menu reverts the engine computer to exactly the state it was in before installation. COBB warns that installing over anything other than OEM or COBB software can cause ECU failure, so remove any other tune first and contact COBB support if unsure.

Does the Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI tune the DSG gearbox?

No. This version works on the engine computer and runs on both manual and DSG cars, but it does not carry transmission calibrations for the Mk6. Shift behavior stays factory, while Flat Foot Shift and Launch Control work on USDM cars through the COBB maps.

Description

COBB Tuning Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI

COBB Tuning’s Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI is the V3 handheld that reflashes the engine computer on 2010 to 2014 USDM cars and 2009 to 2013 world market cars, with CARB Executive Orders D-660-37 and D-660-38 covering it in all 50 states. COBB tested its Stage 1 93 octane map on a 2010 GTI and recorded peak gains of 12.8 percent horsepower and 18.6 percent torque over stock. For a Mk6 kept close to factory hardware it is the sensible first purchase; a turbo upgrade calls for a custom tune from a COBB protuner instead.

Maps and Fuel

The Accessport for MK6 Volkswagen GTI ships with pre-loaded Off The Shelf maps that follow a staged upgrade path, plus room for custom calibrations. COBB builds the 91 octane file with a richer fuel curve and gentler ignition advance to cope with lower grade fuel or poor weather, while the 93 octane map is the most aggressive of the set.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. Please review the full Terms & Conditions here.

BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
