Does the Accessport for 8V Audi S3 also fit the Golf R?

Yes. The Accessport for 8V Audi S3 is the same part number COBB lists for the 2015 to 2019 USDM Golf R in Mk7 and Mk7.5 form, plus 2014 to 2017 world market cars, with manual or DSG gearboxes. The S3 coverage runs from 2015 to 2020 with S Tronic.

Will it fit the newer 8Y Audi S3 or Mk8 Golf R?

No. This handheld is listed only for the 8V S3 and the Mk7 and Mk7.5 Golf R. COBB sells a different Accessport for the 8Y S3 and Mk8 Golf R, so check the model year and generation of your car against the Applications list before ordering.

Does it tune the S Tronic or DSG transmission?

No. This version flashes the engine computer only, and the transmission keeps its factory shift calibration. COBB offers a separate Accessport with DSG and S Tronic flashing for the same cars, which adds transmission maps and service tools for adjusting clutch touch points and running a clutch relearn.

Is it legal in California?

Yes. COBB lists CARB Executive Orders D-660-37, D-660-38 and D-660-39 for this application, so the handheld is legal for sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states, provided it is used according to the COBB application guide.

How do I remove the tune before a dealer visit?

Choose Uninstall from the main menu and the Accessport reverts the engine computer to exactly the condition it was in before installation. The same menu is used whether the car runs a COBB staged map or a custom protuner file. COBB warns that flashing over non-OEM, non-COBB software can cause ECU failure.

Description

COBB Tuning Accessport for 8V Audi S3 and MK7 Volkswagen Golf R

COBB Tuning’s Accessport for 8V Audi S3 shares its part number with the Mk7 and Mk7.5 Volkswagen Golf R, and COBB publishes one set of map notes and dyno charts covering both cars. The V3 handheld rewrites the engine calibration with COBB staged maps or a protuner file, and CARB Executive Orders D-660-37, D-660-38 and D-660-39 make it legal in every state. It is the right choice for owners content with factory shift logic; if the S Tronic or DSG feels lazy to you, the version with transmission flashing costs more but addresses that directly.

Launch and Traction

Both cars gain three driver aids through the Accessport for 8V Audi S3. Flat Foot Shift keeps engine speed pinned at a set point between 3000 and 8000 RPM during upshifts so the turbo stays spooled, Launch Control gives six RPM slots you can change on the fly, and Adjustable Traction Control offers slip targets in slots 1 through 8 once the feature is enabled in the calibration.

Features

Full color screen tracking up to six parameters
Holds up to 100 maps for quick switching
Datalogging stores up to 10 hours of multi-channel data
Performance timer for 0-60 mph, 60 foot, quarter mile ET and trap speed
Configurable RPM shift light
Reads and clears trouble codes
AP Manager software for PC or Mac

Notes

50-state legal with CARB EO D-660-37, D-660-38 and D-660-39 when used in accordance with the COBB application guide
Engine tuning only; S Tronic and DSG transmission flashing requires the separate DSG version
Adjustable Traction Control must be enabled in the ECU calibration before use
Installation over anything other than OEM or COBB software may result in ECU or TCU failure

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
