COBB Tuning’s Boost Control Solenoid for CZ4A Evolution X models replaces the factory wastegate solenoid with a sealed three-port unit and carries CARB Executive Order D-660-165, so it stays legal in all 50 states. It suits any Evo X running a tuned map with raised boost and becomes close to essential once a larger turbocharger or external wastegate is planned. On a car left on the factory calibration it is overkill, because COBB requires its matching Off The Shelf map or a Protuner tune before driving.

Design and Performance

Factory boost control lets boost drift between pulls, which makes accurate tuning harder. The Boost Control Solenoid for CZ4A gives the ECU stable, repeatable control across an operating range of up to 120 psi, so one part suits a lightly tuned GSR and a big-power build alike. Viton spools and seals, an O-ring sealed override port and ultrasonically welded coil wires leave it waterproof and safe to wash.

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
