How does Stage 1 differ from this TCM Aluminum Intake Power Package?

The Stage 1 package uses a drop-in filter inside the stock airbox. The TCM Aluminum Intake Power Package replaces the airbox lid and factory piping with the COBB Intake System w/ HCT, which uses dual 3 inch aluminum tubes and a dual-inlet filter with 165 percent more surface area than stock. Both packages include the Accessport V3 with TCM Flashing.

Is the intake CARB legal?

Yes. COBB lists California Air Resources Board Executive Orders D-660-217 and D-660-245 for this package, so the intake and Accessport are legal for sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states when used according to the COBB application guide. The HydroCarbon Trap built into the tubing retains factory vapor filtering.

Will the truck sound different?

Yes, a little. COBB notes that the larger filter and freer airflow produce a more audible turbo sound while boost builds at low RPM. The exhaust system is not touched by this package, so cruising volume from the tailpipes stays as it was from the factory.

Can I choose different transmission maps?

Yes. Three are included. Simulated Stock reproduces the factory transmission calibration from a 2019-2020 F-150 Limited, COBB OEM+ is a sporty but refined step up that keeps skip-shifting in Normal mode, and COBB Sport is the performance-first file with firmer shifts and higher shift points. On these model years the transmission map is chosen and flashed separately.

Does this package fit the 2020 F-150?

No. Although the intake by itself also fits 2020 trucks, this package is built around the Accessport for 2017-2019 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost models, where the ECU and TCM are separate. From 2020 Ford combined the two controllers, which requires a different Accessport.

Description

COBB Tuning Stage 1+ TCM Aluminum Intake Power Package for P552 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost

COBB Tuning’s TCM Aluminum Intake Power Package replaces the factory intake on a 2017-2019 F-150 3.5L EcoBoost with dual 3 inch mandrel bent aluminum tubes and adds an Accessport that tunes the transmission as well as the engine. Both items are covered by CARB EO D-660-217 and D-660-245, so nothing here costs the truck its street legality in any state. It is the package we would point a daily-driven F-150 toward, with a natural path to Stage 2 when an intercooler joins later.

Intake and Shift Calibration

The COBB Intake System w/ HCT replaces factory piping with powder coated, mandrel bent aluminum tubes and custom silicone couplers, and HCT stands for HydroCarbon Trap, the emissions element built into the tubing. With the TCM Aluminum Intake Power Package, the Accessport also flashes the transmission controller separately from the ECU, as it must on 2017-2019 trucks. COBB OEM+ keeps skip-shifting in Normal mode while shifting later and firmer under power; COBB Sport removes most skip-shifting and raises shift points further; Simulated Stock restores the factory calibration taken from a 2019-2020 F-150 Limited.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
