Is the Power Package for 2015-2017 VA WRX models legal in California?

No. COBB states it is not legal for sale or use in California on any emission controlled motor vehicle, with CARB testing still pending. Elsewhere COBB cites SEMA Garage Emissions Certification SC-COB01-0106 for on-street sale in states that accept the EPA Anti-Tampering Policy.

Will this package fit a 2018 WRX?

No. The CAN Flex Fuel Upgrade here uses a vehicle specific wiring harness that COBB says is not compatible with 2018-2021 WRX models. Those later cars need SUB0041W1-2FF, which pairs the same Accessport V3 and fuel pressure sensor kit with the correct gateway kit.

Do I need a custom tune to run ethanol blends?

No. The Accessport V3 in the box flashes COBB Off The Shelf maps, and COBB built the CAN Gateway so the ECU can use the ethanol reading in an Off The Shelf flex fuel map or a custom calibration. A COBB Protuner is there if you add hardware later.

What comes in the box with this package?

The Power Package for 2015-2017 VA sedans contains the Subaru Accessport V3, the CAN Flex Fuel Upgrade with gateway module, harness, bracket and ethanol sensor kit, and the CAN Fuel Pressure Sensor Kit. There is no intake, intercooler, fuel pump or injector in the box.

Can I order it for a CVT WRX or a WRX STI?

No. COBB confirms this package only for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 USDM WRX sedan with the six-speed manual transmission. The CVT car and the WRX STI are not on the application list. Send us the VIN if you are unsure which version you have.

Description

COBB Tuning Stage 1 CAN Flex Fuel Power Package for 2015-2017 VA Subaru WRX 6MT

COBB Tuning’s Stage 1 CAN Flex Fuel Power Package for 2015-2017 VA Subaru WRX 6MT sedans puts three COBB products under one part number: the Accessport V3, the CAN Flex Fuel Upgrade (343650) and the CAN Fuel Pressure Sensor Kit (344750). The Accessport replaces the factory calibration on the FA20DIT with COBB Off The Shelf maps, and the ethanol sensor reports the blend in the tank. It suits a manual WRX on stock hardware with a dependable ethanol pump nearby; for pump gasoline only, the Accessport alone is the better buy.

How the Flex Fuel Hardware Works

The factory ECU on the early VA WRX has no input for an aftermarket ethanol sensor. The COBB CAN Gateway, a precision manufactured circuit board in a billet aluminum case, places the live reading on the CAN network for an Off The Shelf flex fuel map or a custom calibration to use. The sensor joins the fuel system with quick connect lines, and the gateway bolts in on a machined bracket with a wiring harness built for 2015-2017 cars.

Features

Accessport V3 with a larger, higher resolution full color screen and an on/off switch on the in-vehicle mount
Performance measuring for 0-60 mph, 60 foot and quarter mile times, plus a programmable shift light
Billet aluminum CAN Gateway module mounted on a machined bracket
Ethanol sensor with its own bracket, quick connect fuel lines and a wiring harness that plugs into the gateway
CAN Fuel Pressure Sensor Kit supplied with the package

What’s Included

Notes

Confirmed for the six-speed manual WRX sedan only; the CVT WRX and the WRX STI are not listed
No intake, intercooler, fuel pump or injectors are included

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. Please review the full Terms & Conditions here.

BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
