Capristo Carbon & Glass Bonnet for F142MFL Ferrari F8 Spider

The Capristo F8 Spider carbon glass bonnet turns the F8’s rear engine cover into a display piece, replacing the factory lid with a hand-laid carbon panel built around a large glass window that puts the twin-turbo V8 on show. Capristo adapted its well-known 488 carbon bonnet to the F8 for this, so it carries over a design that already proved itself on the previous generation. The bonnet is manufactured at Capristo’s own factory in Sundern, Germany, hand laid entirely in a prepreg process with no fiberglass, produced from forged pressed carbon using the same Type L carbon fiber weave grade Ferrari specifies for its own OEM parts. It’s formed over proprietary house-cut billet steel molds and cured in Italian-built Maroso SRL autoclaves. The panel includes ventilation ports with a safety screen alongside the glass display window, so it manages engine bay heat while showing the engine off. The bonnet is offered in raw carbon for owners who plan to prep and paint-match, or gloss clear-coated carbon that arrives cleared, prepped, and ready to install. Capristo has built exhaust systems out of its own factory in Sundern, Germany since 1990, starting with systems for Ferrari and other exotic manufacturers before expanding into BMW M and other high-performance platforms. Every system is designed in-house using 3D laser-scanning, CAD modeling, digital prototyping, and CNC bending and milling, then hand TIG welded and polished by Capristo’s own craftsmen rather than outsourced to a third-party fabricator. Capristo builds exclusively from T309 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its heat resistance and long service life under repeated thermal cycling, and backs it with a patented reinforced design aimed at eliminating resonance rather than masking it. The result is a company that still manufactures everything at one factory, under one roof, the same way it did on its first exotic-car systems more than three decades ago.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US.
