BMW S58 intake from AMS Performance is the Open Airbox Intake Kit for the G8x BMW M2, M3, and M4, engineered to deliver maximum performance, response, and turbo efficiency with a motorsport-inspired design for the twin-turbocharged S58 engine. At the heart of this BMW S58 intake is a 3.5″ carbon fiber intake tube and precision-molded 4-ply silicone couplers feeding turbo inlet elbows up to 128% larger than stock for dramatically improved flow. This open-airbox configuration exposes the high-flow dry filters to more ambient airflow for a more aggressive induction note and increased thermal efficiency. Dyno-proven to make up to +86 whp peak and +66 whp average above 5000rpm, this is the open-top configuration of the AMS intake, with a carbon fiber lid version also available.

Why the AMS Performance BMW S58 Intake?

AMS developed the BMW S58 intake for the G8x M2 / M3 / M4 with an engineering-first philosophy led by its in-house Snailworks Engineering Team, using computational modeling, flow-bench testing, and dyno validation to reduce pressure drop and flow restriction throughout the system significantly. With a 128% increase in cross-sectional area over the OEM intake piping, the design lets the S58’s twin turbos operate more efficiently for improved compressor performance and consistent power across the full RPM range. The intake tract geometry and silicone couplers promote laminar, high-velocity flow with a smooth, consistent cross-sectional area to minimize turbulence, and the dry filters use radiused edges to reduce entry losses and enhance volumetric airflow. This open-top version includes a precision trim plate and premium stainless hardware, prioritizing aggressive intake tone and open airflow.

Dyno and Flow-Bench Proven

AMS collaborated with pro ECU calibrator Sam Barros to test the BMW S58 intake on a fully built 2023 BMW M3 Competition xDrive running flex-fuel, upgraded injectors, a mid-pipe, an AMS heat exchanger, and catted downpipes, evaluated back-to-back against the factory airbox. After recalibration, dyno testing revealed a peak gain of +86whp at 5900rpm and an average increase of +66whp above 5000rpm, with improved torque and stronger throttle response. In flow-bench testing using MoTeC instrumentation under simulated 600whp conditions, the stock intake recorded -2.15 psi of pressure drop on the right tract while the AMS system showed only -1.05 psi, flowing more air at every point with nearly identical results across both banks for smoother calibration. On track, pro driver Jackie Ding ran the intake on his M2 race car and recorded higher top speeds, longer gear holds, and greater acceleration consistency, translating into improved lap times.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
