About BBS

In 1970, two racing enthusiasts from Schiltach in Germany‘s Black Forest region – Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand – founded BBS. Initially they focused on producing lightweight fiberglass body panels to give cars an edge when competing at the racetrack. To reduce unsprung weight even further, they created a revolutionary three–part wheel design that gained attention among professional teams such as BMW Motorsports – this helped the company rapidly expand. In 1983 their signature 3 piece ‘RS‘ wheels were released; these are still one of most popular designs within its industry today . Keeping up with technological advances learned through motor sports has always been central to BBS’s mission statement: “Technology Through Motorsport.”
