• Since 1996, BBS has relied on flow-forming to push cast wheel technology well beyond traditional methods. The process spins the wheel blank at high speed while three hydraulic rollers apply intense pressure to the heated inner barrel, elongating and compressing the material to realign its grain structure. This refines the metal’s mechanical properties, increasing strength, rigidity, and impact resistance while reducing excess mass. The result is a barrel with an improved stiffness-to-weight ratio, delivering much of the performance benefit of a forged wheel without the higher production cost associated with full forging.
