Description

BBS Forged Line FI-R Satin Bronze Wheel (20×11.5 +62) for 991 Porsche 911 Carrera [FI145MBZ]

The BBS Forged Line FI-R in Satin Bronze is the rear wheel BBS cuts specifically for the narrow body 991 Carrera. BBS has built race wheels since the 1970s, and the FI-R uses the same multi-stage die-forging: a single billet of aluminum pressed into a monoblock whose grain structure follows the finished shape of the wheel rather than running straight through it. At 20.25lbs in 20×11.5 it takes real weight off the back of a car that rewards a light rear end, and the +62mm offset is machined for the standard Carrera arch rather than compromised to cover the whole 991 range. Satin Bronze is the warm option done with restraint, a muted finish that accents modern Porsche paint without dominating it.

Forged Construction

BBS forges the FI-R from a solid billet of 6000 series aluminum or its own magnesium alloy, using a proprietary multi-stage die-forging process that applies up to 18 million pounds of force. Forging closes the porosity that casting leaves behind and aligns the grain along the load paths the wheel actually sees, so the rim section can be made thinner without giving up strength. The spokes, hub face and barrel are one continuous piece of metal, with no bolts, no welds and no joint to fatigue.

Weight and Design

Each cross spoke carries a machined relief that takes material out of a low-load area, and the wheel’s section is optimized by FEM analysis rather than by eye. 20.25lbs for a wheel 11.5 inches wide is a low number, and at the rear of a 911 it shows up in traction over broken surfaces and in how quickly the car settles after a crest, because the dampers have less mass to control.

Narrow Body Fitment

BBS splits the 991 program by body width, and this is the narrow body rear. The +62mm offset tucks the 11.5 inch rim under the standard Carrera arch, where the wide body cars run the lower ET46 version instead. Confirming which body the car has before ordering matters more than any other check on this wheel, because the two offsets are not interchangeable.

Notes

Sold as a single wheel, not a set of four
This is a five-lug 5×130 wheel and will not mount to a Porsche centerlock hub
Narrow body only. The wide body 991 cars, including the Carrera 4, 4S, Targa and Turbo, take the lower offset 20×11.5 +46 rear instead
This is the rear axle fitment, and a full set needs two of these plus two of the matching 20×9 +48 front
Pairs with the BBS FI-R 20×9 +48 front wheel in Satin Bronze (FI144MBZ)
The same wheel is also listed in Diamond Black, Matte Black and Platinum Gloss
Browse the full BBS FI-R range
TPMS sensors are not supplied with the wheel
Images are used for marketing purposes and the actual product may vary
Vehicles that have been lowered or otherwise modified need enough clearance between the fender and the suspension components. Tire size and alignment should both be checked against the revised setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the BBS Forged Line FI-R in 20×11.5 +62 fit? It is the rear axle fitment for the narrow body 991 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S, built from 2012 to 2019, on a 5×130 bolt pattern and the factory 71.6mm hub bore. The wide body 991 cars take a different rear offset, so check the body width before ordering.
Is this a centerlock wheel? No. The FI145 is a conventional five-lug wheel on the Porsche 5×130 pattern and mounts with the factory wheel bolts. It will not fit a centerlock hub, so it does not suit the GT3, GT3 RS or GT2 RS, which left the factory with centerlock hubs.
How do I tell a narrow body 991 from a wide body? The rear-wheel-drive Carrera and Carrera S are narrow body. The Carrera 4, 4S, Targa and Turbo are wide body and carry a visibly broader rear haunch with a light bar between the taillights on the 4 and Targa. If there is any doubt, check the build sheet rather than guessing from photographs.
Is the FI-R forged or cast? Forged. BBS die-forges the FI-R from a single billet under up to 18 million pounds of force, producing a one-piece monoblock with no bolts or welds. Forging closes the internal porosity that casting leaves behind, which is what allows the rim section to be made thinner and lighter without giving up strength.
What front wheel pairs with this rear? The 20×9 +48, part FI144, in the same BBS FI-R program for the 991 and listed separately in Satin Bronze. A complete staggered set is two of these 20×11.5 +62 rears and two 20×9 +48 fronts, so the set can be built in a single finish.
Does the wheel need hub rings or spacers? No. The 71.6mm center bore matches the Porsche hub exactly, so the wheel is hub centric as supplied and needs no centering ring. Spacers are not required at this offset either, and adding them would undo the fitment BBS designed for the narrow arch. Use the factory wheel bolts at the Porsche torque specification.

About BBS

BBS was founded in 1970 by Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand in Schiltach, Germany, two amateur racers looking for performance on track. They started with fiberglass body panels to cut weight, then turned to unsprung weight with a three-piece racing wheel that drew the attention of factory programs including BMW. Road wheels followed, and in 1983 the original three-piece RS design arrived and became an industry icon. Technology Through Motorsports remains the company’s motto, and BBS still designs, tests and manufactures its own products and technologies.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
