Established in 1970 by amateur racers Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand of Schiltach, Germany (located in the Black Forest region), BBS was initially engaged with engineering light-weight fiberglass body panels to give a performance edge on race tracks. In order to further reduce unsprung weight, they developed an innovative three part racing wheel which soon garnered interest from professional teams like BMW Motorsports that helped boost company growth even further.
