About BBS

In 1970, two motor racing enthusiasts from Schiltach in Germany’s Black Forest region – Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand – established BBS. Initially they focused on fabricating lightweight fiberglass body pieces to give their cars an advantage on the racetrack. To reduce unsprung weight even further, they then developed a unique three-piece race wheel which quickly gained attention among professional teams like BMW Motorsports leading to rapid expansion of the company. In 1983 came out with their iconic 3 piece ‘RS’ design–it has been one of most sought after wheels within its industry ever since . Adopting technological advancements derived from motorsport events is at heart of what defines BBS’s mission statement “Technology through Motorsport”.
