BBi Autosport’s Clutch Slave Cylinder Conversion replaces the power-assisted clutch slave cylinder of the 996 and 997 Porsche 911 Turbo with a proprietary design of BBi’s own. Porsche borrowed power steering pressure to lighten the Turbo clutch, a design that leaves the pedal vague and that BBi describes as highly prone to failure. The Huntington Beach Porsche specialist ran its replacement on street and track for more than a year before release, and the result is pedal feel close to a 997 GT2 or GT3 with the easy manners a Turbo owner expects in traffic. For a manual Turbo that covers real miles, it is the repair that should have left the factory.

Design and Performance

Conversions built from factory 996 GT2 parts need aftermarket brackets and cap the power steering pump with plugs that can fail; BBi instead routes power steering fluid through its own unit to mimic the factory circuit, leaving nothing plugged. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
