The AWE Tuning Track Edition Exhaust for the Subaru Impreza and WRX STI is a full cat-back system built from 3” T304L stainless steel with CNC mandrel-bent piping, designed to maximize flow and maintain proper exhaust velocity. Unlike the Touring Edition, it forgoes drone-canceling resonators to deliver a more aggressive, raw BOXER® tone under throttle while still keeping rasp controlled. The system includes an integrated front pipe and midpipe tuned for straight-through performance, with 102mm diamond black quad tips that align precisely with the rear valance. It installs using factory mounting points and preserves compatibility with all emissions monitoring systems, providing a bolt-on solution that combines increased sound presence with engineered fitment and consistent performance.

Track Edition Exhaust

• The Track Edition is designed for drivers seeking a more aggressive, unrestrained exhaust character. It retains the integrated front pipe, custom midpipe resonator, and overall engineered precision of the Touring Edition but removes the 180 Technology® drone-canceling resonator. In its place, a straight section maintains unrestricted flow, resulting in a louder, more pronounced tone during mid-range acceleration and deceleration, which may be intense for some drivers.

What is 180 Technology?

• AWE Tuning’s 180 Technology® channels exhaust gases through a resonator containing carefully positioned ports and reflection chambers. Inside these chambers, sound waves reflect off the walls, and engineers precisely tune the port and chamber dimensions so the reflected waves rejoin the main exhaust stream 180 degrees out of phase, canceling the frequencies that cause drone. Each 180 Technology® resonator is specifically matched to the acoustics of the vehicle it serves, rather than using a generic design, ensuring consistent, controlled sound. The outcome is a clean, signature exhaust note that eliminates unwanted tones while preserving performance and tonal clarity across all applications.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE analyzed how the factory exhaust valve behaves under various driving conditions. They observed that the overall volume is fairly consistent across modes that activate the valve. The valve remains closed only in Comfort mode and opens once a defined throttle threshold is exceeded. In Sport and Sport+ modes, it stays open, with Sport+ introducing ECU-controlled burbles. In the stock setup, exhaust is routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to minimize cabin noise and reduce drone, while opening the valve directs flow through the center path for a more pronounced tone.

Conversion Kits
