Through its carefully designed ports and reflection chambers, the 180 Technology® resonator generates 180-degree out-of-phase sound waves to neutralize undesirable frequencies, resulting in a smooth, drone-free sound that fully expresses the engine’s performance without compromising tonal clarity.

What is 180 Technology?

• AWE’s patented 180 Technology® is engineered to remove unwanted frequencies, letting only the pure performance and signature AWE exhaust note come through. The system directs exhaust gases into a resonator equipped with precisely positioned ports and reflection chambers, where sound waves bounce off the chamber walls. Acoustic engineers fine-tune the size and placement of these ports and chambers for each vehicle, controlling exactly when the reflected waves rejoin the main exhaust flow. When timed correctly, these waves return 180 degrees out of phase, canceling problematic frequencies. • Both the Touring and Track Edition Exhausts offer a flexible tip setup, letting owners select between dual or triple 4.5” slash-cut tips via purpose-built stamped tip connections. This allows for easy conversion between dual and tri-tip configurations using the AWE Tip Conversion Kit. Each system includes 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips in either chrome silver or diamond black, stamped with the AWE logo, and the tip depth can be adjusted to match individual preference.
