Single 3” to Triple 2.5” Design

• Touring editions come equipped with a 3” mid-pipe inlet, designed to facilitate additional upstream modifications seamlessly. The incorporation of a stamped stainless steel merge at the back ensures a smooth transition from a single 3” pipe to three 2.5” outlets, allowing for uninterrupted flow through each exit.

• Each exhaust system incorporates custom straight-through bullet-style resonators at the rear, delivering an aggressive sound while controlling raspiness.

Tailored Tips

Conversion Kits

• AWE simplifies the process of transforming your current Track Edition into a Touring Edition, and vice versa, allowing you to adjust the interior sound level at your convenience. It’s important to note that both the Touring and Track Editions produce an aggressive sound, with the distinction primarily in the subtle range of high frequencies emitted by the 1.6L engine during highway cruising.

Not Valved

• During their research and development phase, AWE meticulously analyzed the factory exhaust valve and its responses across a variety of driving scenarios to understand its function. They found that the valve cannot be manually controlled by the driver through any of the car’s driving modes, buttons, or settings. Instead, it operates based solely on the throttle input and opens only when a specific low-rev threshold, set by the ECU, is surpassed. Its primary function is to manage backpressure. In the design of the factory exhaust, flow is prioritized through the center outlet (the larger one). The factory rear muffler, designed without packing material and baffled, directs exhaust flow to the left and right exits only during cruising at light throttle inputs. After confirming this, and considering that AWE Tuning’s configurations naturally eliminate any backpressure issues, it was deemed unnecessary for them to incorporate valves.

• In these chambers, sound waves are reflected off the walls. AWE’s team of acoustic engineers precisely calculates the dimensions and placement of these ports and chambers to meet the specific acoustic requirements of each vehicle model. By fine-tuning these elements, they achieve precise control over the timing of the sound waves’ exit from the chambers. This process introduces a sound wave that is phase-shifted by 180 degrees back into the main exhaust flow, effectively neutralizing undesirable sounds.
