Do I need the AWE Electronic Valve Simulators with the Touring Edition Exhaust on the 8R SQ5?

Only if your SQ5 is equipped with factory exhaust valves. When the factory valves are removed, the ECU stores a soft code in the background. A soft code does not appear on the dash and is not harmful to the car, but it will show up on any diagnostic scan. AWE Electronic Valve Simulators plug directly into the factory harness in place of the removed valves and prevent that code from ever being stored. They are sold separately and come as a set of two; if a clean scan at all times or regular dealer service matters to you, they are worth adding.

What is 180 Technology?

AWE acoustic engineers set the size and placement of each port and chamber based on the sound targets for that specific vehicle. Sound waves ride along with the exhaust gases and bounce off the reflection chamber walls, and those dimensions control exactly when the waves exit and feed back into the main flow. Getting that timing right is what generates a sound wave running 180 degrees out of phase with the unwanted frequencies, canceling them out before they become a problem.

Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
