AWE Tuning Performance Mid Pipe for 340i / 440i BMW F30

The AWE Tuning Performance Mid Pipe for the BMW 340i and 440i (F30/F32 platform) replaces the restrictive factory mid-section with a smoother, mandrel-bent stainless steel layout designed to improve exhaust flow and reduce backpressure. By opening up the mid-pipe, it allows the B58 inline-six to breathe more freely, which can translate to a slightly more responsive feel under throttle and a fuller, deeper exhaust note, especially through the mid-range. It’s designed to pair with both the stock rear muffler and aftermarket axle-back systems, so it can be used as a standalone upgrade or part of a larger exhaust setup. Fitment follows the factory routing and mounting points, making installation straightforward without requiring permanent modifications.

Exhaust Tips

• Each exhaust system is equipped with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips, available in chrome silver or diamond black, each featuring a stamped AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, allowing for customization of their depth into the bumper based on personal preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During research and development, AWE conducted an extensive evaluation of the factory valve’s behavior under various driving conditions. They determined that there is no significant change in volume between modes requiring a valve. The valve remains closed only in comfort mode, opening upon reaching a throttle threshold. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the valve stays open, with Sport+ introducing burbles from the ECU. In the stock configuration, the exhaust routes through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce interior volume and drone-prone frequencies, and through the center when the valve is open.

Conversion Kits

• AWE has made it simple to convert between Track and Touring Editions if a change in interior volume is desired later.
