The AWE Tuning M5 SwitchPath Cat-Back Exhaust for the F90 BMW M5 replaces the factory rear section with a straight-through, high-flow design that integrates with the OEM electronically controlled valves. This system allows the driver to switch between a closed, more restrained mode and a fully open configuration, giving the S63 V8 engine a deeper, more aggressive tone on demand while maintaining a composed character for everyday driving. The dual black diamond tips provide a subtle, performance-oriented aesthetic, and the system is engineered to fit using stock mounting points and clearances, ensuring alignment, reliability, and a clean installation without altering the vehicle’s original lines.

SwitchPath Edition

• The new AWE SwitchPath™ for BMW is introducing the 180 Technology® with drone-canceling capabilities.
• The SwitchPath™ Exhaust, which is made of 3-inch T304L stainless steel that is sourced in the U.S., has the capability to provide maximum flow with minimal curves and a push-button attitude. It also includes a precision X-pipe and a tuned SwitchPath™ muffler tailored for the S58.
• After the factory mid-pipe, the X-pipe improves the sound of the S58 engine by adding depth and texture, which is improved even more with the SwitchPath™ muffler in the rear.
• The closed valve experience – When the valves are shut, the SwitchPath™ Exhaust produces an awe-inspiring and fierce growl while maintaining rich and powerful acoustics- no muffled, metal-like noise when you accelerate. When driving at a steady speed, the interior sound will remain similar to stock with no humming at cruising speeds. In addition, the AWE SwitchPath™ technology responds well to the numerous shift points and transmission settings of automatic vehicles. Stamp down on the accelerator with the valves closed and SwitchPath™ will perform it’s signature M song.
• The opened valve experience – When the valves are opened, the engine of the S58 hums at its loudest. Sport and Sport + modes give an immense difference in behavior from Comfort driving modes (with valves shut). In Sport mode, exhaust note is loud, precise and assertive. In Sport+ mode, the same strength accompanies enjoyable crackles. The precise X-pipe regulates the raspy sound while maximizing the strength of the note.

Exhaust Tips

• Each exhaust system is equipped with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips, available in chrome silver or diamond black, each featuring a stamped AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, allowing for customization of their depth into the bumper based on personal preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During research and development, AWE conducted an extensive evaluation of the factory valve’s behavior under various driving conditions. They determined that there is no significant change in volume between modes requiring a valve. The valve remains closed only in comfort mode, opening upon reaching a throttle threshold. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the valve stays open, with Sport+ introducing burbles from the ECU. In the stock configuration, the exhaust routes through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce interior volume and drone-prone frequencies, and through the center when the valve is open.

Conversion Kits

• AWE has made it simple to convert between Track and Touring Editions if a change in interior volume is desired later.
