The AWE Touring-to-Track Edition Conversion Kit for the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86 is designed for owners already running the Touring system who want to step up to a more aggressive sound profile without replacing the entire exhaust. It swaps out the rear muffled sections for straight-through track components, effectively removing the sound attenuation that keeps the Touring setup subdued. The result is a noticeable increase in volume and a more direct, unfiltered tone from the FA24 engine, especially under throttle and on deceleration. Like the original system, the components are made from T304L stainless steel and retain the same factory-aligned fitment, so installation is straightforward and doesn’t require modification. It’s a practical way to change the character of the exhaust depending on how the car is used, without committing to a full system change from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AWE Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit work with non-AWE exhausts on the BRZ or GR86? No. The AWE Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit is designed specifically for existing AWE Touring Edition cat-back exhaust systems. It will not mate with exhausts from other manufacturers. If you do not already have an AWE Touring Edition cat-back installed on your BRZ, GR86, Toyota 86, or Scion FR-S, this kit is not the right fit.
Can I return the AWE Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit if I don’t like the sound after converting? No. The Track Edition configuration is known to get aggressive through the mid-range and at cruising speeds, and it may be more than some drivers expect. For that reason, this conversion cannot be returned on the basis of sound preference. AWE is upfront about this; if there is any uncertainty about committing to a louder, less filtered exhaust note, the reversible nature of the system means you can convert back to Touring Edition using the Track-to-Touring Conversion Kit instead.
Does the AWE Touring-to-Track Conversion Kit fit the older FA20-powered BRZ and Toyota 86? Yes. The kit fits the full BRZ and 86 platform lineup, covering the ZC6 Subaru BRZ from 2013 to 2021, the ZD8 Subaru BRZ from 2022 onward, the ZN6 Toyota 86 from 2013 to 2021, the ZN8 Toyota GR86 from 2022 onward, and the Scion FR-S from 2013 to 2016. Both the FA20 and FA24 engine applications are covered.
What does converting from Touring to Track actually change on the BRZ or GR86 exhaust? The conversion swaps out the rear 180 Technology® axle-back section from the Touring Edition and replaces it with straight-through Track Edition sections. That removes the drone-canceling resonators from the rear of the system, which is what keeps the Touring Edition composed at cruise. The result is a more direct, unfiltered FA24 or FA20 BOXER tone at all speeds; noticeably louder, especially under throttle and on deceleration. The mid-pipe and the rest of the system remain unchanged.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well.
