• As exhaust gases go out of the engine and go through an AWE 180 Technology® installed resonator, they traverse ports which are strategically located and head towards reflection chambers. The sound waves which are sent through these gases bounce off the reflection chambers’ walls. By regulating the size and positioning of the ports and chambers, we also control when the sound waves leave the chambers. The precise timing of when the sound waves that were bounced off come in contact with the primary exhaust flow creates a 180-degree out-of-phase wave which reduces undesirable frequencies.

180 Technology

• AWE’s 180 Technology(r) is designed to eliminate any frequencies from an exhaust that are not desired. This patented product provides increased performance and the iconic AWE signature sound with just the flip of a switch.
• 180 Technology® by AWE operates in this fashion: As the exhaust gases depart the engine and travel into a resonator equipped with 180 Technology® by AWE, they go through precisely positioned ports and enter into the reflection chambers.
• The combination of changing the size and positioning of the ports and chambers in the reflection chambers guides the sound waves coming from the exhaust gasses, which can then be tailored to the needs of a particular vehicle. By selecting when the reflected sound waves re-merge with the exhaust flow, a sound wave that is a hundred and eighty degrees out of phase is generated. This is effective in suppressing any annoying or bothersome frequencies.
