The AWE SwitchPath Exhaust with diamond black tips for the MK7 Volkswagen Golf R is a fully valved system that lets the 2.0T EA888 engine alternate between a controlled, refined tone for daily driving and a more open, aggressive note when the valves are engaged. With the valves closed, low-frequency drone is minimized, keeping cabin comfort high during long drives or city traffic. Opening the valves produces a sharper, more pronounced sound that highlights turbo spool, throttle response, and high-RPM character without sounding artificial. Constructed from T304L stainless steel and engineered as a direct bolt-on, the system retains full integration with factory valve controls, while the diamond black tips provide a subtle, performance-focused aesthetic that fits cleanly within the factory rear valance.

SwitchPath Edition

• The SwitchPath™ Exhaust is constructed of high-grade U.S.-made T304L stainless steel and features sinuous bends, snug packaging, and two moods in addition to a valved passenger-side tip outlet.
• SwitchPath™ keeps factory valve control intact, and operates according to the signals the S3’s ECU sends out according to the amount of throttle, engine speed, and Drive Select setting. If a subtle exit is desired in the early morning, the valve can be closed. But for when it’s time to clutch the asphalt and fly, switching to Dynamic unleashes the signature AWE tune with heightened pops and hisses sure to elicit a satisfied smirk.

What is SwitchPath

• With the AWE SwitchPath Remote and the control box that comes with it, you can manually open or close the exhaust valves, either on the AWE SwitchPath Exhaust system or on the stock exhaust, overriding the factory valving.
• Once the AWE SwitchPath Controller has been installed, the exhaust valves can be activated by pressing the “On” button to the left on the SwitchPath Remote. When you are done, just press the “Off” button to the right to close the exhaust valves.
• It is important to remember that the AWE SwitchPath Remote supersedes the stock valve control, which indicates that one must use the remote to open and close the exhaust as needed.

• If you opt to switch between SwitchPath and Track Edition later, AWE makes it stress-free to make the conversion. Simple!

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• AWE SwitchPath™ Technology ensures superior audio quality as it utilizes the pre-installed valve system in the Golf R. Not looking to settle, the Track Edition of this system completely removes the original valves and stores something called a ‘soft code’ in the system, that some would prefer to remove. To eliminate this code, you can install AWE Electronic Valve Simulators for maximum optimization.
• It is easy to install these items into the factory wiring in lieu of the exhaust valves, thus avoiding any potential software issues from taking out the exhaust valves. Just plug it in, start the car and drive – it couldn’t be simpler.
