Improved Performance & Style

• The new AWE SwitchPath™ for BMW is introducing the 180 Technology® with drone-canceling capabilities.
• The SwitchPath™ Exhaust, which is made of 3-inch T304L stainless steel that is sourced in the U.S., has the capability to provide maximum flow with minimal curves and a push-button attitude. It also includes a precision X-pipe and a tuned SwitchPath™ muffler tailored for the S58.
• After the factory mid-pipe, the X-pipe improves the sound of the S58 engine by adding depth and texture, which is improved even more with the SwitchPath™ muffler in the rear.
• The closed valve experience – When the valves are shut, the SwitchPath™ Exhaust produces an awe-inspiring and fierce growl while maintaining rich and powerful acoustics- no muffled, metal-like noise when you accelerate. When driving at a steady speed, the interior sound will remain similar to stock with no humming at cruising speeds. In addition, the AWE SwitchPath™ technology responds well to the numerous shift points and transmission settings of automatic vehicles. Stamp down on the accelerator with the valves closed and SwitchPath™ will perform it’s signature M song.
• The opened valve experience – When the valves are opened, the engine of the S58 hums at its loudest. Sport and Sport + modes give an immense difference in behavior from Comfort driving modes (with valves shut). In Sport mode, exhaust note is loud, precise and assertive. In Sport+ mode, the same strength accompanies enjoyable crackles. The precise X-pipe regulates the raspy sound while maximizing the strength of the note.

180 Technology

• AWE’s 180 Technology(r) eliminates any troublesome frequencies, only allowing the desired performance and distinctive sound to remain. This powerful and feature-rich system is protected with a patents.
• The patented 180 Technology® from AWE operates in this manner: As the exhaust gases move out of the engine and into a resonator fitted with 180 Technology®, they travel through purposefully placed openings, and end up in reflective compartments.
• The acoustic engineers at AWE manipulate the size and placement of the ports and chambers in the reflection chambers to tune the sound waves emitted; this is done depending on the sound requirements of each vehicle. By metering the size and position of the parts, they are able to alter when the sound waves leave the chamber. This specifically timed rebound of the sound waves reuniting with the exhaust flow produces a 180 degree out-of-phase sound wave which eliminates any unhelpful vibrations.
• Consistency Through Change – AWE 180 Technology® does not believe in an indiscriminate solution for all vehicles. Notes

• Mid Pipes – AWE’s Non-Resonated Performance Mid-Pipes have been designed to be exclusively used in combination with AWE Exhausts. As cut points may not be compatible to those of other exhaust manufacturers, it is not guaranteed that these pipes would work with these other exhaust systems.
• Exhausts – The inlet adapters included on AWE Exhausts are used to pair the exhaust to the factory mid-section. However, when using AWE Mid-Pipes with either the SwitchPath™ or Track Edition Exhausts, these adapters are not necessary. As AWE Exhausts have been designed with various cut points, the compatibility of our exhausts with mid-pipes from other brands cannot be guaranteed.
• Valances – AWE Exhausts have been verified as compatible with both OEM and M-Performance valances.
