Is the wing included with the APR GTC-500 Side Plates for R35 GT-R?

No. The APR Performance GTC-500 Side Plates for R35 Nissan GT-R are a pair of side plates only. They fit an APR GTC-500 wing with the 71 inch or 74 inch airfoil, which is sold separately, so a GT-R that does not already wear a GTC-500 needs the wing before these plates can be fitted.

Do side plates change how much downforce a wing makes?

Yes. APR points out that side plates can raise or lower the downforce a wing produces, which is why it treats them as part of the aerodynamic package rather than as trim. The size and outline of the plate control how much high-pressure air spills around the tips of the airfoil before it can do useful work.

Will these side plates fit both the 71 inch and 74 inch GTC-500?

Yes. APR specifies these GTC-500 Side Plates for R35 GT-R wings on both the 71 inch and the 74 inch airfoil. APR designs its wings so that side plates can be interchanged, so the new plates swap onto an existing GTC-500 without changing the airfoil, the pedestals or the mounting on the car.

What are the APR R35 side plates made from?

They are carbon fiber, the same material as the GTC-500 airfoil they fit, so they add very little weight high on the rear of the car. APR finishes its carbon parts in a UV-resistant clear coat, and washing with a gentle non-acidic soap while avoiding paste wax keeps that finish clear for longer.

Are the side plates covered by a warranty?

Yes. APR Performance covers its products against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from the date of purchase. The warranty applies to the APR part itself, not to installation labor, and failures caused by incorrect installation are not covered, so fitting should follow the original GTC-500 mounting hardware and torque practice.

Description

APR Performance Carbon GTC-500 Side Plates for R35 Nissan GT-R

APR Performance’s Carbon GTC-500 Side Plates for R35 Nissan GT-R owners give the wing a GT-R specific outline in place of a generic end plate. They are cut for this car and listed separately from APR’s universal GTC-500 side plates, and they bolt to either the 71 inch or 74 inch GTC-500 airfoil. Because APR designs its wings so that side plates interchange, a GT-R already running a GTC-500 can take them without touching the airfoil or its pedestals. For owners who have the wing and want the finishing detail to read as part of the car, they are the obvious last step; for anyone without a GTC-500 they do nothing on their own.

Design and Performance

Side plates do more work than their size suggests. On a wing at speed the upper surface carries higher pressure than the lower, and at the tips that air tries to roll around the end of the airfoil, bleeding off downforce and adding drag. The plate fences that spill, and APR notes that its size and shape can raise or lower the downforce the wing produces. That makes a swap of side plates a real aerodynamic change, not a cosmetic one.

About APR Performance

APR Performance designs and builds carbon fiber aerodynamic components at its facility in Chino, California. Its wing families are developed with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and APR publishes the CFD data for its GTC and GT ranges so buyers can compare downforce and drag before choosing a setting. Parts are laid up in pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave, finished in a UV-resistant clear coat and covered by a one-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
