Does the APR Front Air Dam for G87 M2 replace the factory front bumper?

No. The APR Performance Front Air Dam for G87 BMW M2 mounts to the lower edge of the factory front bumper, and the original bumper stays on the car. It adds an integrated splitter plane that reduces front-end lift and increases front grip at speed, so the M2 keeps its factory face with a sharper, more purposeful lower edge.

What is the APR G87 M2 front air dam made from?

It is made from pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave under high temperature and pressure. That process produces a stiff, light panel that holds its shape at speed instead of flexing. APR finishes the part in a UV-resistant clear coat and fits metal skid plates to the underside to protect the leading edge.

Will a front air dam scrape on driveways and speed bumps?

Any lower front extension reduces approach clearance, so steep driveways, speed bumps and parking blocks call for care. Take them slowly and at an angle. The metal skid plates on the underside of the APR air dam are there for exactly that kind of contact, shielding the carbon from minor scrapes and road debris.

How should the carbon fiber finish be cleaned?

Wash the air dam with any gentle, non-acidic soap that is safe for the paint, then dry it with a soft microfiber towel. APR recommends a non-acidic liquid wax and advises against paste wax, which can wear through the clear coat over time. Do not leave water to dry on the surface in direct sun.

Is the APR front air dam covered by a warranty?

Yes. APR Performance warrants its products against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from purchase. The warranty covers the part itself rather than installation labor, and damage caused by improper installation is excluded, so professional fitting is a sensible choice for a part that mounts this close to the road.

Description

APR Performance Carbon Front Air Dam for G87 BMW M2

APR Performance’s Carbon Front Air Dam for G87 BMW M2 owners turns the lower edge of the factory bumper into a working aerodynamic splitter. It bolts to the stock bumper rather than replacing it, and its integrated splitter plane builds a high-pressure zone on its upper surface while the air beneath the car is managed and sped up. The result is less front-end lift and more front grip at speed, which is what an S58-powered M2 on sticky tires, or one already wearing a rear wing, needs to stay balanced through fast corners. It is made in Chino, California for owners who want the car to look as deliberate as it drives.

Construction

Each air dam is laid up in pre-preg carbon fiber and cured under heat and pressure in an autoclave, which gives a stiff panel that will not flutter at highway or track speeds and weighs far less than a plastic or fiberglass equivalent. APR fits metal skid plates to the underside, so the leading edge can survive the occasional driveway apron, parking block or piece of road debris without grinding into the carbon itself.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
