Does the GT-250 Adjustable Wing for FK8 use the factory spoiler holes?

Yes. APR designed this GT-250 to mount through the factory rear spoiler mounting holes on the FK8 Civic Type R. The wing takes the place of the factory spoiler and sits on billet pedestals and carbon bottom plates made for the car.

How is this different from the GT-250 swan neck wing for the FK8?

The airfoil is the same GT-250 profile. On this version the pedestals bolt to the underside of the wing. The swan neck version hangs the airfoil from its top surface and leaves the underside clear, and it sells at a higher price.

Which span suits the FK8, 61in or 67in?

The 61in wing measures 1549mm across and keeps a tighter look on a Civic Type R that sees mostly street use and the odd track day. The 67in version spans 1702mm and reaches further toward the edges of the FK8 rear deck, which suits a car with more front aero to balance it.

Is the Gurney flap already on the wing?

Yes. Each GT-250 leaves APR with a half inch (12.7mm) carbon Gurney flap bonded to the trailing edge using 3M VHB tape. It adds rear load at any given angle and helps the airflow stay attached off the back of the wing, so there is nothing extra to fit.

How long does the wing take to arrive?

APR makes every GT-250 to order and quotes one to two weeks before it ships, with transit to the delivery address on top. The Bulletproof Automotive team can give a current build estimate if the wing has to arrive before an event.

Description

APR Performance Carbon GT-250 Adjustable Wing for FK8 Honda Civic Type R (61in)

APR Performance’s carbon GT-250 Adjustable Wing for FK8 Honda Civic Type R puts a 61in (1549mm) airfoil on the 2017 to 2021 Type R and mounts through the factory rear spoiler holes. APR shaped the 2D profile in CFD to keep downforce even across the span and lays each airfoil up from woven pre-preg carbon, cured in an autoclave in billet aluminum molds, with a carbon Gurney flap fitted before shipping. A 7.6 to 1 downforce-to-drag ratio makes it a working part for an FK8 that runs track days, time attack or autocross.

Pedestals and Mounting

APR built this wing around the mounting holes Honda already put in the FK8 for the factory spoiler. Two 10mm 6061 billet aluminum pedestals carry the airfoil from underneath and sit on carbon bottom plates made for the car, so the wing lines up square with the rear deck. APR builds the pedestals in three heights to set how high the airfoil sits above the body.

Angle Adjustment

The angle of attack on this Adjustable Wing for FK8 sets from 0 to 15 degrees. Flatter settings keep drag down on fast circuits; steeper ones load the rear tires for tight corners and heavy braking zones.

About APR Performance

APR Performance designs and builds carbon fiber aerodynamic components at its facility in Chino, California. Its wing families are developed with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and APR publishes the CFD data for its GTC and GT ranges so buyers can compare downforce and drag before choosing a setting. Parts are laid up in pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave, finished in a UV-resistant clear coat and covered by a one-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
