What comes with this carbon trunk wing for Type 42 Audi?

This carbon trunk wing for Type 42 Audi is a 71-inch GTC-500 chassis mount wing that includes a replacement trunk made of carbon fiber, as the page states. It does not say whether the trunk is painted or what hardware comes with it, so contact us for the full contents before ordering.

Does the trunk need to be cut?

The page says the wing mounts on the chassis and includes a replacement carbon fiber trunk. The wing without the replacement trunk needs the factory trunk slotted, and that version is linked in the Notes. Contact us if you want to confirm the installation steps for this one.

Which cars does it fit?

It fits the 2007-2015 Type 42 Audi R8 coupe, as listed on the page. The page states it is incompatible with convertible models, meaning the R8 Spyder, and it does not list the second-generation R8. Confirm your model, engine and model year with us before ordering.

How is it different from the wing without the trunk?

This listing adds the replacement carbon fiber trunk and costs more than the wing sold alone, which is linked in the Notes. The wing and its 71-inch span are described the same way on both pages, so contact us if you want help choosing.

What is the wing made from, and does it have Gurney flaps?

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) airfoils with pre-soaked woven carbon fibers, made with pre-impregnated composites production, vacuum bagging, high-temperature autoclaving and aluminum billet molds, on 10mm 6061 billet aluminum pedestals with a matte black powder coating. The page does not mention Gurney flaps or an angle-adjustment range, so contact us if you need those details.

What is the PPF film option, and how long does delivery take?

PPF film is an optional extra for an additional $200, chosen at checkout. The wing and trunk are made to order or special order from the manufacturer, so we confirm the estimated lead time after you order. Talk to us first if you have a specific deadline.

Technical Features

The GTC Series airfoils combine carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite materials to achieve an ideal balance between strength and lightness. Woven pre-soaked carbon fibers are included for superior durability without compromising on weight. At the same time, advanced pre-impregnated composites production techniques, vacuum bagging and high-temperature autoclaving processes combined with top-quality aluminum billet molds create these meticulously crafted airfoils that offer the best possible performance levels.
The GTC Series airfoils are widely recognized for their remarkable combination of strength and lightweight attributes, which can be attributed to their construction from carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite materials. These airfoils are meticulously woven with carbon fibers that have been pre-soaked, creating a distinctive blend of durability and weightlessness. Their production involves advanced pre-impregnated composites techniques, high-temperature autoclave procedures, vacuum bagging methods, and top-quality aluminum billet molds.
- To enhance their durability and longevity, the GTC Series airfoils are reinforced with 10mm 6061 billet aluminum pedestals. These pedestals are coated with a protective matte black powder and are designed with robust yet lightweight carbon fiber composites to ensure that the carbon fiber airfoil is securely fastened.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
