Leveraging Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis software, the team has verified and fine-tuned the geometry of the A356 T6 cast aluminum plenum and runners to optimize the distribution of mass flow rate to each cylinder. This meticulous design approach has allowed their engineers to achieve an outstanding level of airflow equalization, with a deviation of only 0.5% to each cylinder port. By going the extra mile in this design aspect, AMS has ensured exceptional performance and balanced airflow throughout the manifold.

Properly Implemented Port Fuel Injection

The 3.0L B58 engine utilized in the GR Supra is an impressive piece of German engineering sourced from BMW. However, the factory direct injection system poses limitations for achieving high horsepower output and utilizing ethanol flex fuel. Consequently, many owners have resorted to installing port fuel injector spacers between the cylinder head and the factory intake manifold. During the research and development phase of the AMS Performance 2020+ Toyota GR Supra Intake Manifold, the AMS team recognized the importance of incorporating an optimally designed secondary port fuel injection solution as an alternative for customers.
To optimize fuel delivery, the injector ports have been relocated onto the manifold runners. This strategic placement allows for precise angling of the injector nozzles directly at the intake valve and combustion chamber, eliminating the risk of fuel pooling along the walls of the intake runners. Taking this concept a step further, the team flush-mounted the -8AN fuel rail to the manifold and created pocketed runners. These design enhancements provide the injectors with an even more direct path, enabling them to spray perfectly atomized fuel to the engine. The result is enhanced combustion efficiency and maximum utilization of the fuel’s potential.

Parallel Split Core Design for Optimized Coolant Flow

The AMS Performance 2020+ Toyota GR Supra Intake Manifold incorporates a parallel split core design as its key feature. This unique design allows for the routing of coolant from the middle of the unit instead of from one end to the other. By adopting this coolant flow routing approach, water pressure drop is reduced, and the flow rate at a given head pressure is increased. This optimized coolant flow ensures efficient movement of coolant throughout the system, effectively expelling heat. The split coolant flow design enables consistent cooling of each cylinder by pairing the coolest water (fresh from the heat exchanger) with the coolest air (furthest point through the intercooler). This matching of temperature maximizes heat transfer across the entire length of the cores, ensuring efficient cooling throughout the intake manifold.
The twin cores, rated for 1250+ HP, have been meticulously optimized by the AMS Snailworks Engineering Team. They have achieved a delicate equilibrium between facilitating airflow to the engine and ensuring efficient heat exchange for cooling the air. This is accomplished by fine-tuning the dimensions of the proprietary parallel cores, incorporating custom specifications for fin densities on both the coolant and air sides, optimizing fin height, and carefully determining the water passage size. These design elements work in harmony to enhance coolant flow, maximize airflow throughput, and minimize pressure drop within the intercooler system.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance.
