AL13 Flow+Technik Series FR100 Wheel

AL13’s Flow+Technik Series pairs a modern multi spoke look with a lightweight, precision built forged monoblock approach. Each wheel is engineered for strength, reduced unsprung weight, and a deep concave profile, then finished through detailed CNC machining and hands on refinement. The spoke layout keeps the face open for brake cooling and caliper clearance while maintaining the rigidity needed for daily driving and aggressive use. Construction starts with 6061 T6 forged aluminum, followed by long milling cycles, hand finishing, and final assembly checks that meet AL13 run out standards.

AL13 Manufacturing

• Engineering: AL13 Wheels are conceived, engineered, and produced in Southern California with an emphasis on precision design, strict engineering control, and skilled craftsmanship for long term performance. With more than 70 years of combined forged wheel experience, every set is managed in house and verified with Finite Element Analysis testing to balance low weight, durability, and strength.
  
• Material: APP Forged Wheels use a one piece 6061 T6 aerospace grade forging method to create a lightweight, high strength wheel structure without porosity, welds, or jointed sections. High pressure and heat reshape the aluminum into a forged multi directional grain structure, then a spin forging step strengthens the rim by aligning grain flow with real operating loads for consistent durability.
  
• Profile: Lathe turning shapes the forging from both sides to build the wheel profile and maximize concavity while removing the majority of excess material for weight savings. This step typically removes more than 70 percent of the starting material to improve the strength to weight balance.
  
• Milling: After the profile is set, the wheel moves to CNC milling where the final design is cut using dedicated tooling and programmed paths that can run up to eight hours per wheel for tight accuracy. Once machining is complete, each wheel goes through multiple hand finishing steps including filing, deburring, buffing, and ceramic bead high luster polishing, followed by a detailed inspection before coating.
  
• Prep: Brushing and polishing are among the most time intensive finishing steps and are offered as upgraded options across AL13’s line. Brushed finishes highlight the forged aluminum grain, while touch less high luster ceramic polishing produces a mirror like surface.
  
• Finishing: Final finishing and assembly are handled to a high standard, with AL13 using select finishing partners in Brisbane, Tokyo, and Hamburg to deliver brushed or polished bases with transparent powder coats and optional gloss, satin, or texture treatments on each component. Every wheel is checked for run out and must measure under 0.010 inch, with many sets landing closer to 0.007 inch, then hardware is torqued with calibrated Digital Snap On torque wrenches, marked, and signed off before packaging.
