Which version of the Power Pulley Kit for E90 M3 do I need?

Check the A/C belt. If it is smooth on one side and grooved on the other, like the water pump belt, order the Single PK version of the Power Pulley Kit for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3, which covers 2007 to 05/2008 production. If the A/C belt is grooved on both sides, order the Double PK version for 06/2008 and newer cars.

How much power does the pulley add?

Active Autowerke recorded about 10 horsepower at the wheels on its in-house Mustang dyno, using an otherwise completely stock M3. It describes that as 12 or more horsepower over stock at the engine. Active Autowerke adds that its own engine software can build further on the gain.

Will an underdrive pulley cause the S65 to overheat?

Active Autowerke states that this pulley does not cause the overheating found with smaller pulley designs. The company developed the kit to release power the S65 already makes while keeping the inherent qualities and reliability of the E9X M3, so the gain is not bought at the cost of everyday manners.

Does it work with both DCT and manual cars?

Yes. The kit is designed for E90, E92 and E93 M3 models with either the seven-speed DCT or the six-speed manual gearbox. The transmission makes no difference to the accessory drive at the front of the S65, so the only choice to make is between the Single PK and Double PK versions.

Is the kit difficult to install?

No. Active Autowerke describes the kit as simple and easy to install, with the crank pulley and the correct matching belts packed together as one complete bolt-on system. It is also fully reversible, so the factory pulley and belts can go back on if the car ever needs to return to standard.

Description

Active Autowerke Power Pulley Kit for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3

Active Autowerke’s Power Pulley Kit for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3 reworks the outer crankshaft pulley of the S65 V8, the part Active Autowerke identifies as holding back power the engine already makes. Machined from billet 6061 aluminum and hard-coat anodized to a finish so dark it nearly disappears in the engine bay, the new pulley returned about 10 horsepower at the wheels on an otherwise stock M3. It arrives as a complete kit with matching belts. For an owner who wants more from the 8,400 rpm V8 without opening the engine, few upgrades ask so little of the car.

Design and Performance

Changing the diameter of the crank pulley changes the length of the A/C belt it needs, and from June 2008 BMW drove the E9X M3 air conditioning compressor with a double-sided DPK belt. Active Autowerke had its own DPK belt produced to suit the new pulley, keeping the accessory drive as close to BMW practice as possible, and packs a spare in the Double PK kit for emergencies.

Notes

Choose the version by the A/C belt on the car. A belt smooth on one side, like the water pump belt, means Single PK (2007 to 05/2008); grooves on both sides mean Double PK (06/2008 and newer).
Active Autowerke measured the gain on its in-house Mustang dyno with an otherwise stock M3
The Power Pulley Kit for E90 / E92 / E93 BMW M3 can be removed and the factory pulley refitted at any time

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
