Are springs included with this kit?

Yes. Four springs come in the kit: 10.0 kgf/mm, or 560 lbs/in, at the front and 7.0 kgf/mm, or 392 lbs/in, at the rear. Front springs are 175 mm long with a 65 mm inner diameter, and the rears are 150 mm with a 70 mm diameter.

Do the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for SE3P fit a 2011 RX-8?

Yes. TEIN lists US RX-8 models from 2004 to 2011 for this kit, along with Japanese-market cars. That coverage is wider than the Mono Racing kit, which TEIN USA lists for 2004 to 2008 US cars, so later owners have a clear choice here.

How much lower will the RX-8 sit?

TEIN recommends 1.0 to 1.8 inches lower at the front and 0.4 to 1.2 inches lower at the rear. The front range runs from 3.0 inches lower to 1.0 inch higher than stock, while the rear range runs from 1.5 inches lower to stock height.

Should I choose Mono Sport or Mono Racing for my RX-8?

For mostly road driving with some circuit use, the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for SE3P are the natural fit, with 10.0 and 7.0 kgf/mm springs. Mono Racing is developed for drivers who use circuits often and offers front springs from 14 to 18 kgf/mm.

Can the damping be adjusted from the cabin?

Not with the standard knobs, which are turned by hand at each damper through 16 levels. A TEIN EDFC controller, sold separately, swaps them for stepping motors and allows changes from the driver seat, with 32 levels on EDFC or 64 on EDFC ACTIVE models.

Description

TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for SE3P Mazda RX-8

TEIN’s Mono Sport Coilovers for SE3P Mazda RX-8 pair 10.0 kgf/mm front and 7.0 kgf/mm rear springs with mono-tube dampers, lower rates than the Mono Racing kit for the same car uses. TEIN lists this kit for US cars from 2004 right through 2011, so the later models are covered as well. It suits an RX-8 used on winding roads, the daily drive and the occasional circuit day, while a dedicated track car is better served by Mono Racing.

Engineering

Mono Sport follows TEIN’s Sport setting philosophy, aimed at circuit, winding road and street use. Each damper keeps its oil and gas apart, and the ADVANCE M.S.V. adjuster moves compression and rebound together through 16 levels. Ride height is changed by altering case length, so stroke and spring preload stay fixed and the car rides much the same once lowered.

Features

Mono-tube shocks with oil and gas kept in separate chambers
STKM13C steel shell cases with ZTP coating against rust and wear
Wrought aluminium spring seats on low-friction resin thrust washers
12.7 mm square-drive adjusting wrench for a spinner handle
Overhaul and revalving service available from TEIN for later rebuilds

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
