Is 0.92 A/R the right G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing for my engine?

It is if the engine is on the larger side of the G25 range or makes its power high in the rev band. The G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing at 0.92 A/R trades some low-rpm response for lower back pressure at peak power. Smaller engines that need boost early are better served by the 0.72 or 0.49 A/R.

Will it bolt to my G-Series II G25-700?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the first-generation G25 compressor and turbine housings, and lists this part for both the G25-585 and the G25-700 G-Series II super cores. The same housing also fits the first-generation G25-550 and G25-660, so it can stay on the car through a core upgrade.

Does this housing need a separate wastegate?

No. The wastegate port is part of the turbine housing, so the boost control valve sits on the turbocharger itself and the exhaust manifold needs no extra flange or dump tube. Garrett designed the port at maximum size to reduce boost creep, a common problem with large A/R housings on internally gated turbochargers.

What is the housing made from?

It is cast in stainless steel, which Garrett uses for every G-Series turbine housing and rates to 1050 degrees Celsius. Stainless resists the cracking and scaling that sustained high exhaust gas temperatures cause in cast iron, which suits an A/R that spends its time feeding a G25 at high load and high rpm.

Is this the standard or reverse rotation version?

This is the standard-rotation version, and Garrett lists it only for standard-rotation G25 cores. Reverse rotation cores need the mirror part, 740902-0079, which Garrett offers for twin-turbo installs where two turbochargers face each other, or for a single turbocharger that has to fit around a tight engine bay.

Description

Garrett G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing, 0.92 A/R V-Band

Garrett’s G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing at 0.92 A/R is the largest internally gated housing in the G25 range, a stainless steel casting with V-band flanges on the inlet and the outlet. Part 740902-0077 is listed by Garrett for the standard-rotation G25-550 and G25-660 cores and for the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700. The bigger A/R lowers exhaust back pressure at high rpm, which makes it the pick for a 2.5L to 3.0L engine or a high-revving build chasing the upper end of a G25-660 or G25-700 rating. On a 1.6L that lives below 5,000 rpm it will feel lazy.

Why the Larger A/R

A/R describes how tightly the volute feeds the turbine wheel. At 0.92, gas reaches the 54mm G25 wheel more slowly, so boost arrives later, but the engine pumps against less pressure once it is on boost. Garrett pairs that with a wastegate port made as large as the housing allows, to hold boost without creep when exhaust flow is highest.

Features

Largest A/R of the G25 internal wastegate housings, for top-end flow
Wastegate port built into the casting, no manifold-mounted gate required
Clamp-on V-band inlet and outlet
Stainless steel construction rated to 1050C (1922F)

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
