Why would I need a reverse rotation G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing?

Garrett offers reverse rotation for a perfect twin-turbo installation or for a single turbocharger in an application with installation restrictions. On a twin-turbo engine, one bank runs a standard G25 and the other a reverse unit with this G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing, so both sides use mirrored plumbing.

Will this housing fit my standard rotation G25 core?

No. The volute is built to feed a turbine wheel spinning in the reverse direction, and Garrett lists this part only against reverse-rotation cores. A standard-rotation G25 needs the standard 0.72 A/R internal wastegate housing, part 740902-0076, or one of the other standard-rotation G25 housings.

Which reverse rotation cores does Garrett list for it?

Four of them: the first-generation G25-550 and G25-660 reverse-rotation super cores, and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700 reverse-rotation super cores. Their part numbers appear in the Applications section above. G-Series II shares the first-generation housings, so the reverse housing carries over between core generations.

Should I pair it with a 0.72 or 0.92 housing on the other bank?

Match the A/R on both banks. A twin-turbo engine balances best when each turbocharger sees the same exhaust restriction, so this 0.72 A/R reverse housing pairs with the standard 0.72 A/R internal wastegate housing. Builders who want more top-end flow can run 0.92 A/R housings on both sides instead.

Is the housing internally wastegated?

Yes. The wastegate port is cast into the housing, so each turbocharger controls its own boost and neither exhaust manifold needs an external gate. Garrett states that its internal wastegate G-Series housings are designed with the largest possible port, which helps keep boost creep under control on twin-turbo engines with high exhaust flow.

Description

Garrett G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing, 0.72 A/R V-Band Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G25 Wastegate Turbine Housing for reverse rotation, in 0.72 A/R, is the internally gated V-band housing that lets a G25 spin the opposite way to a standard unit. Garrett lists part 740902-0078 for the reverse-rotation G25-550, G25-660, G25-585 and G25-700 cores, and offers reverse rotation for owners building a symmetrical twin-turbo installation or a single turbocharger that has to fit around packaging limits. On a twin-turbo V6 or V8 it pairs with a standard 0.72 A/R housing on the opposite bank. On a conventional single-turbo build it is the wrong part; the standard version is 740902-0076.

Mirrored Twin-Turbo Builds

A reverse rotation core turns its compressor and turbine wheels in the opposite direction, so the compressor outlet and turbine inlet sit as a mirror image of a standard turbocharger. Two G25s, one of each rotation, can then share symmetrical intake and exhaust plumbing. This stainless housing, rated to 1050C (1922F), carries the wastegate port in the casting for that layout.

Features

Reverse-rotation volute for mirror-image twin-turbo layouts
0.72 A/R, matched to the standard-rotation 0.72 A/R housing for an even pair
Internal wastegate with Garrett’s maximum-size port to reduce boost creep
V-band connections at the turbine inlet and outlet

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
