Which Garrett cores fit the G25 Turbine Housing Kit?

Garrett lists this 0.72 A/R free-float G25 Turbine Housing Kit for four standard-rotation super cores: the G25-550, the G25-660, and the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700. Because G-Series II shares the first-generation housings, an owner who upgrades the core can keep this housing in service.

Do I need an external wastegate with this housing?

Yes. This is a free-float housing with no internal wastegate port, flapper or actuator, so boost has to be controlled by an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold ahead of the turbocharger. Builders who prefer an internally gated setup should choose a Garrett internal wastegate G25 housing instead.

Should I choose the 0.72 or the 0.92 A/R housing?

Choose by displacement and rpm range. The 0.72 A/R housing brings boost in earlier and suits most engines in the lower and middle part of the G25 range. The 0.92 A/R housing flows more at high rpm and suits larger or higher-revving engines where top-end power matters most.

What is the G25 Turbine Housing Kit made from?

The G25 Turbine Housing Kit is cast in stainless steel, the material Garrett uses across its G-Series and G-Series II turbine housings, rated by Garrett to 1050 degrees Celsius. Stainless steel resists the cracking and scaling that cast iron housings can suffer at sustained high exhaust temperatures.

Will this housing work on a reverse rotation G25?

No. Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings, and this kit is the standard-rotation version. Garrett offers separate reverse-rotation G25 housings, in internal and external wastegate forms, for the reverse-rotation cores used where two turbochargers mirror each other on twin-turbo engines.

Description

Garrett G25 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.72 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s G25 Turbine Housing Kit in 0.72 A/R is the free-float exhaust housing for Garrett’s G25 super cores, with V-band inlet and outlet and no internal wastegate, so boost is held by an external wastegate on the manifold. Garrett lists this housing, part 740902-0069, for the G25-550 and G25-660 and for the G-Series II G25-585 and G25-700, which makes it the common exhaust side across the G25 family. It is the right part for a builder who wants external wastegate control and a rotatable V-band joint, and the wrong one for a car with no external gate on the manifold.

Construction

The housing is cast in stainless steel, the material Garrett uses across its G-Series and G-Series II turbine housings and rates to 1050C (1922F). The V-band joints let the housing be clocked to suit the manifold and downpipe, and because G-Series II kept the first-generation contour, an owner moving up to a G25-700 core keeps this housing.

Features

Free-float design for an external wastegate, with no internal flapper or actuator
V-band joints at both ends, clockable to suit the manifold and downpipe
One of two free-float A/R sizes Garrett offers for the G25 Turbine Housing Kit

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G25 super core is sold separately

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
