What comes with the GTX5009R Gen II Super Core?

The GTX5009R Gen II Super Core is the center section with the Gen II compressor housing installed. Garrett states the supercore and turbine housing are sold separately, and lists three GTX50 turbine kits for it in 0.96, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, each with a T6 inlet and V-band outlet.

What is the horsepower rating?

Garrett rates the 76mm GTX5009R Gen II at 875 to 1700 horsepower on engines from 2.5L to 10.0L. The rating is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the real number depends on displacement, fuel, boost and the tune.

GTX5009R or GTX4709R: which one?

Both use the 109mm Gen II compressor. The GTX5009R adds the larger 99mm GTX50 turbine and a 1700 horsepower rating, which helps a big engine move exhaust at high flow. The GTX4709R uses a 93mm turbine and responds sooner, so it often suits a smaller engine better.

Which GTX50 turbine A/R should I pick?

Garrett lists 0.96, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R GTX50 housings. The 0.96 A/R favors response on the smaller end of the displacement range, 1.23 A/R is the middle ground, and 1.39 A/R suits very large engines or builds tuned purely for peak power. All three need an external wastegate.

Does it need a special speed sensor?

Yes. Garrett states the GTX5009R Gen II port is compatible only with its newer flange-style speed sensors, part 781328-0003 Street kit or 781328-0004 Pro. Garrett sets the maximum allowable turbocharger speed at 102,500 rpm, and a sensor is the clearest way to stay below it.

Description

Garrett GTX5009R Gen II Super Core, 76mm Compressor Inducer

Garrett’s GTX5009R Gen II Super Core in 76mm form uses the same 109mm Gen II compressor wheel as the GTX4709R but adds Garrett’s larger 99mm GTX50 turbine, and Garrett rates it at 875 to 1700 horsepower on engines from 2.5L to 10.0L. The bigger turbine eases exhaust back pressure, which pays off on large-displacement V8s and big sixes running high boost. On an engine under about 4.0L that wants early boost, the GTX4709R with its 93mm turbine is the more responsive choice.

Gen II Changes

Garrett states the Gen II wheel flows 15 percent more air with 39 percent lower inertia, and the exducer is now 109mm, 1mm larger than Gen I. The compressor housing is a larger 0.88 A/R volute, up from 0.69 A/R. It is longer at both inlet and outlet, so Garrett states it is not outline interchangeable with Gen I.

Features

76mm inducer, 49 trim, on a 109mm Gen II compressor wheel
99mm, 84 trim GTX50 turbine wheel
Turbine kits interchangeable with GT and GTX 5008, 5009, 5018 and 5020 cores

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 76mm and 109mm
Compressor trim: 49
Compressor housing A/R: 0.88
Turbine inducer and exducer: 99mm and 91mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 102,500 rpm

Applications

The GTX5009R Gen II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 10.0L
Power range: 875 to 1700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GTX50 turbine kits: 0.96, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists the GT50 and GTX50 turbine housing kits for this core
All three GTX50 housings Garrett lists are free float and need an external wastegate
The speed sensor port accepts only Garrett’s flange-style sensors, 781328-0003 Street or 781328-0004 Pro, sold separately as Garrett speed sensor kits
Garrett states that running above 102,500 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
