Is a turbine housing included with the GTX4720R Gen II Super Core?

No. Garrett states the supercore and turbine housing are sold separately. The GTX4720R Gen II Super Core uses the GTX47 turbine kits, which Garrett lists in 1.08 and 1.23 A/R with a T6 inlet and V-band outlet. Both are free float, so plan on an external wastegate.

How much horsepower will the 76mm GTX4720R support?

Garrett rates this version at 1025 to 1850 horsepower on engines from 2.5L to 10.0L. The figure is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. The engine, fuel system, boost level and calibration determine how much of that the build actually makes.

Which of the three GTX4720R inducer sizes is right?

Garrett offers 76mm, 80mm and 88mm inducers on the same 120mm wheel, rated to 1850, 1900 and 1950 horsepower. The 76mm version has the lowest trim and the quickest response, so it suits a build that values drivability. The larger inducers suit builds that need more peak airflow.

What does lower inertia mean in practice?

Garrett states the Gen II wheel has 30 percent lower inertia than the GTX4718R, thanks to less material in the hub and blades. A lighter wheel accelerates faster, so the turbocharger responds sooner to throttle. Garrett also notes the extra flow can make more power at the same boost, or the same power at lower boost.

Can I reuse my Gen I speed sensor?

No. Garrett states the Gen II large-frame speed sensor port works only with its newer flange-style sensors, part 781328-0003 Street kit or 781328-0004 Pro. With an 85,000 rpm maximum on this core, running a sensor is a good way to keep the tune inside safe shaft speed.

Description

Garrett GTX4720R Gen II Super Core, 76mm Compressor Inducer

Garrett’s GTX4720R Gen II Super Core with a 76mm inducer puts the smallest inducer on GTX4720R’s larger 120mm compressor wheel, and Garrett rates it at 1025 to 1850 horsepower on engines from 2.5L to 10.0L. The low 41 trim keeps the wheel responsive for its size, so this is the GTX4720R to pick when a big V8 or a built inline six needs high airflow but still has to drive out of corners or launch cleanly. A build under 1000 horsepower is better off on a GTX4709R.

Gen II Compressor

Garrett lists 9 percent more compressor flow for the Gen II wheel, a 120mm exducer that is 2mm larger than before, and 30 percent lower inertia than the GTX4718R. Garrett attributes the inertia drop to less material in the hub and blades. The housing volute grows to 0.88 A/R, from 0.69 A/R on Gen I, to suit the bigger wheel.

Features

76mm inducer, 41 trim, on a 120mm Gen II compressor wheel
93mm, 82 trim turbine wheel shared with the GTX4709R
Fits Garrett GTX47 turbine housings in 1.08 or 1.23 A/R

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 76mm and 120mm
Compressor trim: 41
Compressor housing A/R: 0.88
Turbine inducer and exducer: 93mm and 84mm
Turbine trim: 82
Maximum turbocharger speed: 85,000 rpm

Applications

The GTX4720R Gen II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 10.0L
Power range: 1025 to 1850 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GTX47 turbine kits: 1.08 and 1.23 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists the GT47 turbine housing kits for this core
Both GTX47 housings Garrett lists are free float, so an external wastegate is required
The speed sensor port accepts only Garrett’s flange-style sensors, 781328-0003 Street or 781328-0004 Pro, sold separately as Garrett speed sensor kits
Garrett states that running above 85,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
The Gen II compressor housing is 6mm longer at the outlet and 10mm longer at the inlet than Gen I, so Garrett states it is not outline interchangeable with Gen I

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
