What does the GTX4709R Gen II Super Core include?

The GTX4709R Gen II Super Core is the center housing rotating assembly with the 0.88 A/R Gen II compressor housing. Garrett states the supercore and turbine housing are sold separately, and lists two GTX47 turbine kits for it: 1.08 and 1.23 A/R, each with a T6 inlet and V-band outlet.

How much horsepower is the 76mm GTX4709R rated for?

Garrett rates the 76mm version at 825 to 1575 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 10.0L. Garrett calculates the figure from compressor choke flow, so it represents potential flywheel horsepower, and the real result depends on fuel, boost, intercooling and the calibration.

76mm or 80mm inducer: which GTX4709R should I choose?

Both share the 109mm exducer and the same turbine. The 76mm wheel, 49 trim, favors response and tops out at 1575 horsepower. The 80mm wheel, 54 trim, flows more and Garrett rates it to 1625 horsepower. Choose the 76mm unless the engine needs that last bit of top-end airflow.

Will it replace my Gen I GTX4709R without changing pipes?

Probably not. Garrett states the Gen II large-frame compressor housing is not outline interchangeable with Gen I: it is 6mm longer at the outlet and 10mm longer at the inlet, though the 107mm outlet diameter is unchanged. Expect to shorten or modify the intake and charge pipes.

Which speed sensor fits this core?

Garrett states the port is compatible only with its newer flange-style speed sensors, part 781328-0003 Street kit or 781328-0004 Pro. Older sensors do not fit. With a maximum allowable speed of 102,500 rpm, monitoring shaft speed is a sensible step on any high-boost build.

Description

Garrett GTX4709R Gen II Super Core, 76mm Compressor Inducer

Garrett’s GTX4709R Gen II Super Core with the 76mm compressor inducer is the entry point to Garrett’s large-frame GTX47 Gen II range, rated by Garrett at 825 to 1575 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 10.0L. The 76mm wheel gives the quickest response of the two GTX4709R options, which suits a big-displacement V8 or a built six that wants four-figure power with a usable powerband. It is far more turbocharger than a 500 horsepower street engine needs. Builders chasing the top of the GTX47 range should look at the 80mm GTX4709R or the GTX4720R.

Gen II Compressor Wheel

Garrett says the Gen II wheel flows 15 percent more air, with a 109mm exducer, 1mm larger than before, and 39 percent lower inertia than the GTX4708R. It sits in a larger 0.88 A/R compressor housing volute, against 0.69 A/R on Gen I, which Garrett uses to make the most of the new wheel. The turbine side is a 93mm inducer, 82 trim wheel.

Features

76mm compressor inducer, 49 trim, with a 109mm exducer
Speed sensor port for Garrett’s flange-style sensors
Compatible with GT and GTX turbine housings of the GTX47 frame

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 76mm and 109mm
Compressor trim: 49
Compressor housing A/R: 0.88
Turbine inducer and exducer: 93mm and 84mm
Turbine trim: 82
Maximum turbocharger speed: 102,500 rpm

Applications

The GTX4709R Gen II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 10.0L
Power range: 825 to 1575 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GTX47 turbine kits: 1.08 and 1.23 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists the GT47 turbine housing kits for this core
Both GTX47 housings Garrett lists are free float, so an external wastegate is required
The speed sensor port accepts only Garrett’s flange-style sensors, 781328-0003 Street or 781328-0004 Pro, sold separately as Garrett speed sensor kits
Garrett states that running above 102,500 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
The Gen II compressor housing is 6mm longer at the outlet and 10mm longer at the inlet than Gen I, so Garrett states it is not outline interchangeable with Gen I

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
