Does the GT3071R Super Core with a square shroud include a turbine housing?

No. This GT3071R Super Core is the center housing rotating assembly with the compressor housing, and the turbine housing is chosen separately. Garrett offers GT30 housings in free-float T3 and V-band inlet forms and in internally wastegated T3 form, in A/R sizes from 0.61 to 1.06.

Is the 102mm hose the compressor inlet?

Turn 14 describes this part as the 4in inlet version, which matches the 102mm figure Garrett gives in its GT3071R reference table. Garrett itself labels the column only as hose size. If the intake pipe is already sized for 4 inches, this is the version to pick.

Square or stepped heat shroud: does it matter?

It matters for fitment against existing parts. Garrett lists 836028-5002S with a square heat shroud and 836028-5005S with a stepped one, both with a 102mm hose. Garrett does not publish drawings of the difference on the product page, so match the shroud on the core being replaced.

What power can I expect from the GT3071R?

Garrett gives 280 to 480 horsepower on 2.5L to 3.5L engines. That rating comes from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. A well-supported six-cylinder can reach the upper half of the range; a stock-internal engine on pump fuel will usually land lower.

Can I fit a GTX30 turbine housing to this core?

Yes. Garrett states that its GT30 turbine kits are interchangeable with GT, GTX Gen I and GTX Gen II 30 Series super cores. That means a housing bought for a GTX3071R Gen II also bolts to this GT3071R, which helps when moving between cores later.

Description

Garrett GT3071R Super Core, 102mm Hose, Square Heat Shroud

Garrett’s GT3071R Super Core in the 102mm hose, square heat shroud configuration is a GT30 frame center section built around a 53mm compressor inducer and a 60mm turbine, rated by Garrett for 280 to 480 horsepower from 2.5L to 3.5L. Turn 14 describes this part as the 4in inlet core, which lines up with Garrett’s 102mm figure. It suits an owner replacing a tired GT3071R who wants to keep the existing compressor plumbing, and it is a good match for a mildly built six. As a fresh purchase on a 2.0L four aimed at 300 horsepower, a smaller GT28 frame will respond sooner.

Ball Bearing GT30 Core

Garrett builds the GT3071R on a ball bearing cartridge in a water-cooled center housing, with original GT Series compressor aerodynamics and a cast wheel. The 84 trim turbine uses a 60mm inducer and 55mm exducer. Garrett offers internally wastegated turbine housings in every GT Series size and free-float housings for external wastegate setups.

Features

Square heat shroud with a 102mm hose connection
GT30 turbine interface shared with GTX Gen I and Gen II 30 Series cores
Water-cooled center housing for lower heat soak after shutdown

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 53mm and 71mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.50
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Hose and heat shroud: 102mm hose, square heat shroud
Bearing system: Ball bearing, water cooled

Applications

The GT3071R Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett matches it to engine size and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 3.5L
Power range: 280 to 480 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT30 turbine kits: Free float with T3 or V-band inlet, or internally wastegated T3 with 5-bolt outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included
An external wastegate is required if a free-float GT30 housing is chosen
Garrett’s internally wastegated GT30 assemblies ship without bolts, clamps or actuator
The stepped heat shroud GT3071R is also listed

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
