Is the 1.01 A/R G30 Turbine Housing Kit right for a 2.0L?

Usually not. On a 2.0L engine the 1.01 A/R delays boost noticeably, and most of those builds are better with the 0.83 A/R T3 housing. This G30 Turbine Housing Kit makes most sense on 3.0L to 3.5L engines, or on smaller engines built to rev and aimed at the G30-900 rating.

Does the T3 inlet limit power compared with a V-band inlet?

Garrett does not publish a power difference between its T3 and V-band inlet housings at the same A/R. The choice is mainly about the manifold: T3 suits an existing T3 manifold, while the V-band inlet suits fabricated manifolds built for a clamp joint. Both share the same G30 core list.

Which wastegate setup does it need?

An external wastegate on the exhaust manifold, because a free-float housing has no wastegate port. Size the gate for the power target and the boost pressure, since at 1.01 A/R a G30 is often running high exhaust flow. Garrett sells GVW external wastegates in several sizes.

Can I keep this housing if I move to a G-Series II core?

Yes. Garrett lists this housing for the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825 as well as the first-generation G30-660, G30-770 and G30-900, and states that G-Series II uses the Gen I turbine housings. The core can change while the housing stays bolted to the manifold.

Is a reverse rotation version available?

Yes. Garrett lists a reverse-rotation 1.01 A/R T3 housing as part 740902-0101 for reverse G30 cores. This part, 740902-0091, is the standard-rotation version, and the two are not interchangeable because each volute is shaped for a turbine wheel spinning in one direction.

Description

Garrett G30 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.01 A/R T3 Free Float

Garrett’s G30 Turbine Housing Kit at 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet is the higher-flow T3 option for standard-rotation G30 cores, a free-float stainless housing with a V-band outlet. Part 740902-0091 is listed by Garrett for the G30-660, G30-770, G30-900 and the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825. It suits a 3.0L to 3.5L engine, or a smaller engine revving hard with a G30-825 or G30-900, where exhaust flow near the redline matters more than the first thousand rpm of boost. A 2.0L street build will feel the slower spool, and the 0.83 A/R T3 housing fits it better.

Top-End Breathing

Moving from 0.83 to 1.01 A/R opens the volute that feeds the 60mm G30 turbine wheel, so the turbine passes more exhaust before back pressure climbs. Owners keep their T3 manifold and external wastegate and gain flow at the top of the rev range. The casting is stainless steel, which Garrett rates to 1050C (1922F).

Features

1.01 A/R, the larger of the two G30 T3 housings
T3 inlet for existing manifolds, V-band outlet
Free float with no wastegate port of its own

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0091
A/R: 1.01
Turbine inlet and outlet: T3 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Standard
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G30 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation super cores, rated from 350 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines:

Garrett G30-660: 880693-5001S
Garrett G30-725 G-Series II: 934117-5001S
Garrett G30-770: 880693-5002S
Garrett G30-825 G-Series II: 934117-5002S
Garrett G30-900: 880693-5003S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no wastegate port
The G30 super core is sold separately
Standard rotation; the reverse-rotation 1.01 A/R T3 housing is part 740902-0101
For quicker spool on the same T3 flange, Garrett lists the 0.83 A/R housing as part 740902-0090

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
